Pitsco Aluminum Maglev II Magnetic Levitator Track, 8' Length

This track was purchased for the Science Olympiad MagLev event.The packaging was very poor; there was no styrofoam or anything and one corner of the extrusion was slightly bent. This did not seem to affect the straightness of the track.The track is made of two aluminum extrusions bolted together with a nylon (non-conductive) spacer. This allows both sides of the track to be electrified, however this feature was not tested. The track is in 2 halves, which are joined by two rods that fit into both sides. This works, but is prone to misallignment. My team scraped this and used an external apparatus to keep the tracks straight. Provided are two magnetic strips and a few rolls of 3M double sided foam adhesive. This works, however it is hard to get the magnet evenly spaced from the track wall.I would recommend this, as anyone buying it should have the technical knowledge to overcome any design flaws.
