Digitally remastered two CD edition of this 1997 album features a bonus disc that includes eight tracks of rare remixes and non-album tracks This album marks Masters at Work duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope Gonzales at their finest; combining Latin, Jazz and Salsa flavors with their distinctly New York sounding, slickly-produced, funky house beats. On this album, every track is a high-point. The Jocelyn Brown-sung 'I Am the Black Gold of the Sun' is a timeless hit but elsewhere contributions from Roy Ayers, George Benson, India and Jazzy Jeff make this mammoth long-player one of house music's most accomplished and enduring classics. Talkin' Loud. 2006.

Nuyorican Soul.
House and garage album that I have always loved with remixes and Roy Ayers. Remixes are on second disc, other hip hop tracks are good. Great album.

but the muscianship is SO good, _Nuyorican Soul_ STILL gets five stars
Life-affirming album of my early twenties. I am separated from my vinyl collection, so when I saw that this was pressed as a CD, I bought it... then I was separated from THAT copy (and my ex) and I bought it again here on Amazon. The only drawback to this pressing is that some tracks are missing from the original 2 disc vinyl set...but the muscianship is SO good, _Nuyorican Soul_ STILL gets five stars.

You like jazz? How about house? I'm a lover of both and this CD is a perfect combination.
