Smooth, solid, and great quality!
Installed onto my Slopestyle MTB (dirt jumper) for use in skateparks and dirt jumps/trails. They have a great tread pattern for low-resistance rolling on smooth, hard-packed surfaces while still offering decent grip on slightly loose dirt and gravel at moderate speeds. For me, they were quite difficult to install onto the rim even with proper tire lever tools, but your experience may vary based on your wheel's rim width. Overall a lightweight and effective tire for riding that isn't super aggressive. Worth the price!

Great for time travel
I am probably on my 8-10th set. They are awesome for time travel and bmx. They are super light and accelerate to 88mph with no problem. The compound stays grippy even after traveling several decades. They are not effected by the flux capacitor and can be used on any surface. I use them for skateparks, dirt jumping and street and they are reliable and predictable. I also commute a lot of miles on them. One day I rode them for ten years. I do get flats from time to time but that’s part of the game.

Almost magical
Things gotta be magical to get a perfect rating from me. These tires are real close and I don't even have complaints. They are light, grip well and are super fast.

Super quality product
These tires took my 26 inch BMX cruiser to the next level for the pump track. Highly recommend.

the tire is awesome and I would never want to ride anything else
The ride is smooth, reliable, grippy on curves at 35 mph and downhills at 40+ mph. Loaded with saddlebags over 4-5 hour rides, I ride a hardtail mtn bike mostly on-road and wanted a tire that grips well with a minimum rolling resistance. I've put about 500 miles on the tires (front and back) with the pressure at about 60 lbs. For on-road riding or smooth decomposed granite trails, the tire is awesome and I would never want to ride anything else. However, for riding on loose dirt, you have to be really careful b/c these tires don't dig in for traction b/c of the lack of knobbies and things can get dicey if you try to turn quickly or go downhill on a shifty surface.

Grippy
Thought they might be a little slick for the dusty utah soil, but they hold great on the dirt jumps.

Drop the Hammer indeed. Great tire!
I enjoy riding my mountain bike on the pavement as much as my road bike, but hate riding knobbies on the street (heavy and tiring rolling resistance). After reading other positive reviews, I mounted a set of DTHs "Drop the Hammer" on an extra wheelset--and WOW! My mountain bike rolls as smoothly as a road bike, but has the nice cushioning of a high volume tire. They even grip fairly well on mild trails. Great tire for an urban assault bike in my view. I'll buy them again.

Drop The Hammer, Baby!
This is my third set of DTH tires, all for vintage mountain bikes ridden mainly on paved surfaces. These tires are lightweight, comfortable and grippy, accelerate fast … and look great. Maxxis puts out a comprehensive tire lineup - the Drop The Hammer is a bargain!
