So far I am very pleased with these oars
So far I am very pleased with these oars. I bought a pair of 7' for a Gheenoe I'm converting to a rowboat. As others recommended, I took the foam grips off and replaced with tennis racquet grip tape and they are very comfortable rowing. I really like the slightly curved paddles. Really bite into the water and give a good powerful stroke. My only problem right now is finding an oarlock that I like that fits these. I tried the Sea Eagle Oar Lock Pins as they popped up as going with these, but they are TOO SMALL. A clamp on oarlock also does not allow you to feather the oar in rowing. Wish the manufacturers of oars would market or recommend oarlocks that go with their oars!!! Also wish someone made a good oar collar specifically for aluminum oars!!!. I'm going to try the Scotty Strongback oarlocks and Scotty oar collars... I realize I will have to modify the collar... will update how that goes.

I'll never use wooden oars again.
Great oars at a great price. The foam grips are cheap, but I could not care less about that as the aluminum shafts are strong & light while the plastic blades are tough as nails. No rot or finish worries as with wooden oars. I'll never use wooden oars again.

Well made oars ~ 1 3/8" in diameter
Just got these and they seem quite well made. The diameter of the shaft is slightly more than 1 3/8" I paired them up with Scotty #104 Strongback Oar Locks (the #104 is for smaller diameter oars), which work well with the oars. No more rotting! (hopefully the plastic hands UV well)

Heavy Duty
Strong to hold up to my power rowing on a 12 foot aluminum rowboat with seven passengers. I bought oarlocks to hold them in place but didn't get the ones that attach to the boat, so they popped out a few times. Also, the rubberr grips started sliding out of place after a few days of use. I expected them to though.

Excellent value.
Description says one inch. Actually they are 1 and 1/8" diameter shafts. I'm careful not to scrape bottom with them. They are aluminum after all. They do the job just fine. A great value. Highly recommend.

husband loves it
This is a great buy. My husband paddle boards and uses this paddle. It is long enough for him to use way more affordable than going to the paddle board seller and buy one.

Good until one broke in half.
Only used 3 times on our paddle boat and one of the oars snapped at the bracket that holds it in place. They worked great up until that point.

Missing hand grip
Bought two oars, one is missing the hand grip. Tried contacting SeaSense via their web page, but their "contact us" link loops back to the product pages.

Nice leisure paddle
I ordered two of the 7-foot paddles for an old 12 foot aluminum row boat. As others have mentioned, the rubber grips started tearing after 3 or 4 times out rowing.
