The perfect antidote to too much screen time
I have just finished this puzzle book with a friend and it kept us hooked throughout the summer. We weren't even in the same county, but we could still collaborate. You can't cheat and look the answers up in the back, but there is online support in the form of a hints forum.Unlike other puzzle books, no two puzzles are the same. Every possible puzzle skill is put to work from coding to pictographs to homophones. Many hours of (frustrating) enjoyment!

Good idea, poor execution
This isn't showing as a verified purchase as it was bought for me - the other person had the Tails copy! So onto the review...Good concept, but a poor execution. The puzzles range randomly from overly simple to bizarrely perpendicular, to utterly misleading, to actually broken. And one is so poorly designed you have no choice but to resort to signing up to the forum to see the clues.Of course of the 47 puzzles there are some good ones in there! But as has been mentioned elsewhere, the writing is TERRIBLE! You'd think this was written by a teenager who's so nerdy they're not understood by their peers, but Stephen Lockyer is apparently a teacher with over 18 years of experience and four kids of his own! A nonsensical story that comes together using the keys from all the previous answers (which you are also led through with banal, badly-phrased writing), and the conclusion to puzzle 47.... I mean seriously, re-read the entire story in both books plus '47' to compare the final result. It quite literally makes no sense.Three stars because I got to the end without burning it. It filled some time, and I didn't pay for it. But considering fifteen quid has to be forked out for the two books... Stephen should have done some play-testing, got a proof-reader, and simply made sure it all worked properly before publishing.

Great mystery for a couple of puzzlers
Me and my hubby are huge fans of escape rooms and brain teasers, and while we enjoyed many of the puzzle books out there, Vice Versa was the first where we truly felt that we needed to work together to find the solutions and advance the story.
