It looks even better than the picture!
This floor lamp is gorgeous! The frosted tulip shades add a great finish to the graceful curves of the metal frame. I was looking for a tall, graceful work of art to nicely fill an empty space in our great room. My wife and I also needed more light sources in the room. So, (as my wife was afraid of what work of art I might choose!) I started looking for an unusual floor lamp to satisfy both needs. I wanted to avoid the usual pole floor lamp with the usual shades. It took a little hunting but we certainly have a winner here. The lamp *is* black from a distance. If you get closer, especially with other lighting, the color seems more of a dark brown. Move in and you notice flecks or streaks of copper. Close examination reveals a copper-colored base to the metal with a layer of black brushed over it. (I guess that's the advertised ginger-black finish.) That layering adds a dimension above a simple black-matte finish. The lamp comes almost completely assembled: all you do is to attach the tulip shades, screw in your light bulbs and plug the cord into the wall. The glass shades look delicate and feel very fragile. They were safely packed in the box, but I had some apprehension when taking them out of the snug Styrofoam packing. The lamp takes four bulbs, up to 75-watts each, giving you plenty of light-level options. I chose 13-watt CFLs rated at 900 lumens each. Plenty of light for 60-watt incandescent equivalents.Pros:Did I say that the lamp is gorgeous? It's a work of art, a sculpture that lights up the room without being excessive. We won't hide his lamp behind furniture; you will want to see it every time you walk by, you will want others to see it.It is easy to assemble. I used a kitchen stepladder to attach the shades and bulbs to the top two lamps.On/off is through a step floor switch.Cons:There is no dimmer or High/low switch if you need to set a half-level lighting effect. I have table lamps in the room to provide alternate ambiance so this isn't an issue for me. I knew of this "limitation" when I purchased the lamp but you may have other lighting goals. The tulip shades are fragile and once mounted, three of them are perilously close to the metal framing. I attached self-adhesive felt pads to the metal and they just kiss the shades. I will switch to Sugru as padding; the adhesive on the felt pads are not likely stay attached to the metal frame. I thought to bend the poles, but didn't want to upset the lamp's balance. This was a great purchase. The price was a little higher than I have paid for floor lamps, but this is more than just a light source. The negatives I mentioned are for your buying consideration, they certainly don't detract anything from this lamp for me or my wife.

Beautiful lamp, but...
Update: Lamps Plus has outstanding customer service. They are sending me a replacement lamp shade and offered to replace the lamp, which I refused because while different than my previous 2 purchases, it is still a beautiful lamp. As I mentioned previously, this is the 3rd time I've purchased this lamp for different areas in my loft. I highly recommend!Previous Review: This is the 3rd time I've purchased this lamp. It is absolutely beautiful and looks fantastic with my Hue smart bulbs. However, this lamp was sold as new, when it was obviously repackaged. My other 2 lamps (purchased at different times) are virtually identical, whereas this one's "stems" have been irregularly bent. It's still pretty, but not as sleek as my other two. Also, one of the globes is slightly chipped. I probably would have returned it for a replacement, but the repackaged box was completely destroyed. Bottom line, this lamp is absolutely worth the money when it comes in the condition of my previous two purchases. However, I'm disappointed this time as this lamp was not in new condition and doesn't meet the standard I've come to expect from this lamp.

This Sturdy Lamp is Made with High Quality Materials and Looks Even Better in Person!
I love this lamp. It is bright, has a classy look that, although called industrial really makes me think of tulips or reeds. This lamp is made of quality materials. Thus, this lamp is quite heavy and the globes are real glass.Although I do love this lamp, it wasn't absolutely perfect for my needs, so we did make a few minor changes:The switch is about 1/4 way down the cord from the lamp. I found this a bit too close to the lamp to reach, given where I wanted to put the lamp, so we moved the switch about 1/4 of the way from the plug. This allowed me to plug the cord into a regular extension cord, and attach the cord to a nearby table so the switch is in easy reach. (I really should have just plugged into a switchable extension cord, but... Husbands DO love to work on things! lol)It is an ok height (although I would have preferred if it was 2' taller...). In order to raise the height, I placed it on a cat tower. I am very happy with how that turned out. As I think about it, I may actually prefer it at its current height just because I can place it on a sturdy surface to get it to the height I want it at without encroaching on the ceiling, and thus have use of the area under it for things like places for my kitties to hang out.Anyhow, other that the minor changes we made, I really do like this lamp.Oh, according to Amazon, I purchased this lamp 2 years ago. So, this isn't just a first impression of this lamp. It really has been great this entire time. One thing to note, the globes which cover the light bulbs are glass. I wasn't certain if they would be glass or plastic or what, but they did make this lamp with decent quality materials. Anyhow, the globes are made with a lighter weight, more fragile style of glass (like what you would have expected 30 years ago). What this means is that you do need to be a bit careful, as they are fragile and are a bit easy to brake. (After surviving shipping fine, my husband had to lift the lamp into its location. When doing so, he knocked it hard enough it almost fell over. Instead of falling over it hit the nearby bookcase and shattered one of the globes. The rest of the globes haven't had a problem, even though we have moved the lamp about 4 times. It is super steady and very well built. The only problem I have had with it is
