Yiddish Renewed!
My grandparents on both sides of the family were Russian immigrants to America at the turn of the last century. Not only did they speak Russian, they learned English and retained three other European languages. Yiddish, though, was spoken at home. As I reach my senior years, I need refreshment in my grasp of Yiddish. This fun book was an enjoyable way to do so! Shared with a best friend!

It's a keeper!
I received my copy, immediately read it cover to cover, and loved every cartoon.I had originally purchased it intending to give it as a gift to my in laws for Chanukah, but decided that I need to keep it and I will be buying another one (or more) to give as gifts.Perfect for anyone, not only for those from Jewish families.

A lovely respite book
I liked this so much I've already shared it with two other people locally and sent it across country to share with other friends.

Good, and not just for the Jews.
My mother had a cousin who responded to any new development by asking, "Is it good for the Jews?" Most news isn't, but a notable exception to this depressing rule is, "Have I Got A Cartoon For You," Bob Mankoff's collection of Jewish-themed cartoons by New Yorker artists. This book, however, is good not just for the Jews, but for anyone who appreciates truly outstanding cartoons. If you're not Jewish, you might not get a few of the jokes, but who gets every New Yorker cartoon? One "Seinfeld" episode was based entirely on the idea that not every New Yorker cartoon makes sense, and even Mankoff acknowledged this problem in a November 13, 2000 article entitled "I Don't Get It!" But you will get, and love, and laugh out loud at, almost every cartoon in this wonderful collection. The introduction by Mankoff and the foreward by Roz Chast are every bit as funny as the cartoons, and even Mike Reiss' blurb on the back cover is great.
