Dorman924-636 Spare Tire Hoist Compatible with Select Chevrolet / GMC Models

My old tire hoist wouldn't lift my tire. So bought this replacement and it worked great!!!!!! I bought it for my 2010 Chevy Colorado 4x4 crew cab. Make sure you buy the right one for the year and make, model of your vehicle. It's not a one fits all hoist, they are not universal.

I installed this and used the kit specific to my GMC Canyon with it. It’s a pain to get the spare mounted up into the hoist, hopefully it stays for now- keeping my fingers crossed.

The unit itself is good but I keeps shearing the pin on the crank coupler.

Broke when I installed it not made well

I bought this part to replace the OEM SPARE tire hoist on a 2012 Chevy Colorado. The first one that I bought broke immediately when I started raising the spare. The pin in the winder coupling sheared under the weight of the tire. So I took it back. The second one didn't line up with the Jack handle so there was no way to actually wind it. After grinding down the Jack handle to get the handle to fit the coupling I discovered that the problem that I had with the first part is pretty much the norm with this part. The quality control where ever this part is manufactured is non-existent! The coupling that the jack handle insert into to wind the hoist has a hole drilled through it for the pin. The hole in the shaft is drilled off center and can only be lined up with one of the holes in the coupling because of the off center hole in the shaft. Then they use a mild steel pin that doesn't get much engagement in the shaft. As soon as it is loaded with the weight of the tire it breaks. If I could give this minus 5 stars I would, it's that bad a part. As an engineer if I designed something this bad I wouldn't have a job. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PART!!!

This product fit exactly as the original and looks well made. I would recommend this product.
