LOCK & LOCK 61-Fluid Ounce Round Food Container, Tall, 7-1/2-Cup

I grow mushrooms and one of the types is Shittake. I want to avoid using the common plastic bags used in the mushroom industry because they are one-time-use and then become part of the waste stream. I have been searching for a re-usable plastic container as a spawn jar that in the case of shittake the mature mycelium is removed to go into the fruiting stage. This container fits the bill. First i checked the seal. the container held vacuum over a week and when i opened it, it hissed as air rushed in much like a ball jar. I then drilled two holes in the lid; one 1/4" for a injection port, the other a 1/2" for a filter patch. the plastic is nice and thick, not flimsy at all. the injection port seated in like a dream. The plastic is PP5. I put one container with medium in it inside my pressure canner. I put it at 15 psi, over 2 hours and the container did not deform or melt in the least. This container is an absolute winner in my application and I couldn't be happier.

I bought this to use as a cigar humidor in the refrigerator in my garage shop. I have added the thin cedar wood which is contained in the higher quality cigar boxes (took the wood from my Cohiba cigar box) and cut it with a razor knife to fit both the base of this round container but also so I will have a piece down the center of the container when holding several cigars.I am adding a Hygrometer from Orleans Group, which is an Amazon seller, to my home made humidor. I plan on using the 62% Bovida humidity control packs to provide the correct moisture level. Since this container is plastic and won't have to be "moisture broken in" and the cedar wood I have installed is from an existing box of Cohiba's which I just received from the cigar wholesale seller I deal with, so they were at or near the right moisture level.While I am not using this container as it most likely was intended, I am thus far pleased with it's quality and function for my needs.I had trouble finding the physical measurements of this container on it's listing when I ordered it. The container is 7.25" in exterior height, the base is 4.75" in exterior diameter and the lid is about 5.125" of exterior diameter with the lid secured. Please note these dimensions were using a ruler so they are not exact.

It was just the right form and size for what I needed it for, but I never realized that the rotating top would be challenging to lock and seal because it wasn't square.

Great quality

This container is the perfect size for storing soups, salads and other leftovers. It has a small footprint and not too tall but holds a lot. The round lock n locks are so easy to close...great for my arthritic hands. I'm replacing all my containers, large and small.

I have been using the Lock & Lock products for a number of years. Glad to have found them on Amazon. My original purchase of these storage containers was from a grocery store in Michigan. Tough and durable I have some pieces that have lasted over ten years. They universally seal very well and I am glad to have found them on Amazon as I now live in Florida. I have tried many different brands over the years for food storage but I like these the best. In this case I was replacing a piece that I mostly use to store soups in after the initial serving. One of the tabs that seals the lid broke off after ten years of service and I was purchasing a replacement piece. New container arrived on time and was just what I was looking for. Hopefully I will continue to have long service with this extremely durable item over the years.

I bought this to hold my cats small dishes and another to hold plastic bowls tops. Great size for my needs. Love the locking top. Goes right on without hunting for tabs on the bottom container. Put on any direction is a must !!!

While the item is well made, if the container is used for liquid, the Lid leaks if turned on its side - No great if transporting liquids
