I usually only use Daniel Smith for my main watercolor palette and I'm never disappointed. This is a nice earthy red that is very similar to piemontite genuine but it has a little less brown in the mass tone. Both colors will dilute out to a nice muted pink and it can be toned a little more orange-brown by adding yellow ochre or mars yellow. On her website, Jane Blundell has a great example of using this in a triad with yellow ochre and cerulean blue chromium. The colors are more muted but they are amazing if you want an earthy landscape palette. I built out a 12 color palette with these as my focus and I'm very happy with the results.
