Q: How well does the waterproofing hold up?

I have a pair of these I bought almost 3 years ago. I wear them very often in cold or rainy weather (5+ miles almost every day) and only occasionally in warmer weather. The waterproofing is just starting to leak now. We have had excessive rain here in Virginia over the last year, and I walk through puddles often. The shoes are just now starting to slightly separate the rubber from the leather after excessive use over the years. I ordered a second pair to wear in the rain, and will continue to wear the older pair in dryer conditions. The traction when they are wet is impressive. I have climbed Old Rag (a difficult hike/ rock scramble in the Appalachian trail) in these in slightly wet weather and they were perfect.

Q: I'm wondering if it's recommended to order a size up since this shoe has an insole? My other pair of vivos fit perfectly at 37 ..

I ended up taking the insole out to make room for heavier sox and to add some extra room in the toe box. I ordered a size 11. I have other Vivo's the same size and I think the fit is about the same. I hope this helps. I really like the shoes - have walked probably a few hundred miles on them. I'd say the tread is not heavy enough for mountaineering (I'd worry about slipping on steep rocky trails), but otherwise, on non-steep trails, city streets, etc., these are great.

I have black and hike on mountain trails where it can be muddy and wet. I just wipe them off with a damp cloth to keep them clean.

Q: I wear an 8 1/2. What size should I order??

EU 41-42. Size in US to EU equivalent works great.
