Galvanized Dock in a Box

For my particular project (8x16 floating dock) this hardware is actually overkill however I like to know that my project will be strong and sturdy against the elements. It’s not easy working on a dock once it’s been placed against a boat house. This is the second dock I have built with this product so I know it will do the job. Only negative is the price but I will never have to worry about this dock being able to support multiple people or securing my boats.

This kit is solid. I used it for a 4x10 dock which is over-kill, but I'll never have to replace it. Note that corners are bent, not welded. This leaves a radius that you have to contend with on the outside corners. My set caused the long side boards to bow in and caused me to question the length of my stringers. Easy to contend with. I'd buy it again.

Well, this is high-quality, heavy, 0.25" thick hardware. Everything is included to build 8x12 dock, IF you plan to use dockedge 500 type of floats.If you plan to use flat top float, and if you like to build things without cutting corners - plan to add 4 more 2x6, 8 more corners, 16 backup plates, 32 nuts, 32 bolts, 32 washers and 32 lock washers. Plus bolt sets (or lug bolts) for floats.Once you price it out you will understand that this set is a good deal.Based on my experience - 8x12 is max you should build, otherwise whole thing will be very heavy.Also, while this is top quality hardware, residential quality hardware (3/8" thick) would probably make more sense for my specific project (10x12 floating dock on quite 160 acres lake).However, if your project is for river or even ocean - this is perfect hardware for your dock.

This is heavy duty hardware. I thought it was expensive, but when I got it I see why. This will probably outlast the wood I used it to attach. My application is on a bay, with a lot of boat traffic. You may not need this heavy duty of a kit for a small lake, but with traffic, and tides, I am glad I went for it. Fit and finish was nice, and everything was included. Very happy with this kit.

Now we have the perfect dock at our lake house!
