Works well with rtl_433
Good rain gauge. The receiver is pretty good (I got the vertical version) but I ultimately plan on using it with rtl_433, which it works great with. Range seems good. Can’t comment on battery life.

Inexpensive, accurate, and convenient
Update: This little rain gauge survived 120+mph radar indicated winds from the eye wall of hurricane Milton. Recorded 9" of rainfall during the storm as well.Picked up this rain gauge to replace my old sight glass style gauge that cracked. This one is easy to set up and use (no more moving it for the mower or algae growth from sitting with water). Did the calibration procedure described in the manual, out of the box it was within 0.01" of spec so I left it alone. Rain alert feature is nice if you need a warning at a particular amount of rainfall. Overall solid purchase for $30.The rain cup is mounted to the fence with a 3d printed shelf I designed for it. The file is free on Thingiverse if you wish to do the same.

Great buy, lasts for some years
We use several displays, both Premium (best) and Standard, all fed by one rain collector, leaving us with many spare collectors. It's pretty accurate except when spiders get inside, and while it can be adjusted it is an awkward and inexact procedure. So, check its accuracy (they tell how) when you receive it and can return it. The main design flaw is with the collector's "ears," which after years of exposure to UV get brittle and break when pushed, and repair is impossible. Too, the signal's reach is less than with other AcuRite products.

Options Included AAA Batteries
Very nice product. However, an interesting addition was that the display unit included 2 Kirkland AAA batteries and 1 Duracell AAA battery and the sensor had dust on the trip sensor.

Update
Down to 1 star. Long story made short: Fiddled with calibration once again, tested the batteries (all good), totally reset the inside unit, and put it back in service. It rained the next day, glass rain gauge showed 2” of rain, AcuRite showed 0.3”. AcuRite gauge now resides in the recycle bin awaiting pick up. I’m wondering if all the people giving glowing reviews really know if the readings they are seeing are at all accurate.Good concept, easy set-up but questionable accuracy & lousy life.I would like to give this 3-1/2 stars, but that's not possibleI purchased this rain gauge in January 2003 (which puts it well beyond the return window). I went through the tedious procedure of calibrating it when it arrived and as it turned it was very close to the 1.68” number you are supposed to see so I put it service without any adjustment needed. The outside unit (rain gauge) is about 60’ from the inside display and there was no trouble in the two units connecting. For the last nine months or so, I thought I was getting super accurate readings, but to my dismay, it turned out I wasn’t.Living in Southwest Florida, we get the inevitable afternoon thunderstorms. We had two significant ones last week and my super accurate AcuRite rain gauge said there had been a total of just over 5”. HOWEVER, my next door neighbor who has one of those totally unsophisticated stick-in-the -ground glass gauges said he had over 8”.This prompted me to do two things. One, buy one of those unsophisticated glass gauges that you have to go outside to check which I did for about $13.00, and two, recalibrate my AcuRite gauge. After about five attempts of doing the 20 minute or so drip test, I was able to get it to read 1.70” which is within 1% and I figured that was close enough. The real test came the following day. We had rain and mu AcuRite showed .6”, but the outside glass gauge which is about 3 feet from the AcuRite showed 1”. My conclusion is that there is something wrong in the mechanism (at least mine) which can handle the drip, drip, drip, of the calibration test, but not a downpour that produces an inch of rain in 10 minutes which is not uncommon in our location..Pros: Easy to set up, like the concept of being able to see rain amounts without going outside, like being able to see today, yesterday, year-to-date etc.Cons: I’m a bit suspicious of the longevity/accuracy per the above.

Perfect, except for those darn spiders
This rain gauge works perfectly, until the spiders discover that the tipping cups are a perfect place for their nests. I’ll then the gauge stops working. I fought this every week or so for a year. Finally I defeated the spiders thanks to my wife. She generously donated a nude stocking to end the spider fight. My outside unit sits on a deck railing. I removed it and put the whole gauge into the stocking all the way to the toe. Then cut it off a few inches above the top of the unit. I pushed the stocking down to allow the top to be removed so I could attach it back on the deck rail. It was tricky getting the top back on so stocking is on the outside of the unit so all lower side and bottom openings are covered, except the open top. It’s been months and no spiders. Not pretty, but effective.

Perfect Rain Gauge
This is so simple to use with instructions that make sense. It measures the rain automatically so you know how much you got the day, the week & month. It has an a vessel which is mountable but mine is sitting on my outdoor table and hasn't tipped over. It drains the water out automatically. It's very simple to set up and beats the other plastic one which I couldn't read and could never get back in the same hole it came out of. I love this rain gauge.

Great while it lasted
This is a nifty digital rain gauge that accurately measured rainfall (note PAST tense). I loved it for several months until it stopped working. The first time it stopped working, a bird had tried to build a nest in the bucket that collects the rain. Understandable why it stopped working. I cleaned it out and was back in business. A few months later it stopped working again and the problem was batteries. I changed the batteries in both the outside unit and the inside display. It would not work after that. I tried changing the setting from A on both devices, to B on both devices and C on both devices. But nothing resolve the issue. I followed the troubleshooting guide to reset the unit. No luck. I think I'm giving up and buying a more expensive model.
