are these the pleated paper type or are they the honeycomb type?

They are pleated paper but feel as if they are synthetic due to the thickness and strength of the paper. If rinsed with warm water and dish soap after about eight weeks of use, and since I handle them carefully to prevent separating the paper panels, mine seen to perform an entire winter season. This seems to restore the absorbency without destroying the filters. This because the layers of paper are attached by plastic bands that hold the pleats together well.  They telescope to fit the round base of the filter holder and fit well if gently bent to the curvature of the interior cones that hold them. One or two of the pleats may shed when rinsing without any real deterioration of performance. I have the humidifier for four years and replace the filter one a season, and have found that if rinsed,that they last the entire November through March in the Northeast and maintain whole house humidity in my 2800 sq ft. house and at 40% when run on the LOWEST fan speed and kept on 24/7. The lowest fan speed prevents the filters from drying out and becoming brittle. I am really impressed that it works so well and think the filters are the key to it working well and at vastly less than adding a humidifying system to my forced air gas heat air handler.I rinse them after about 8 weeks, when they accumulate residue from hard water minerals. Almost miraculously, they never seem to get mouldy making me conclude that the Essick filters are really high quality. Cleaning out the base of the plastic bottom with warm water and something like Formula 409 where the water is stored seems to keep the filters and the case from getting scumby and keep the air from taking on a musty smell.

There is no imprint re china made on the plastic bag covering the filters.  I have used 3 sets of these filters and plan to reorder this week.

So no prime, no single pack, is it at least the same filter I've been buying the last 6 years?

Since my model humidifier requires 4 filters, because it's a large console unit with 
double fans, I have always purchased the 4 Pack.  Try putting in the model number of your humidifier on your search, it sounds like you have a small unit, that only requires a single filter. Hope this information is helps you........Good luck.
