Sharp and does what it was designed to do
Seems to keep sharpness and makes cutting a pleasure. This is my first knife with verticle spaces to release suction and make for easier Slicing. Need to take care, as with any knife, asit is sharp. Nice balance and feel to hand.

A really nice steel! You could spend more, but why?
I am pleasantly surprised by the heft and apparent craftsmanship of this honing steel! Ignore the reviews that say this is not a good sharpener. It is not a sharpener at all, it is a honing steel, for touching up the edge on a knife between sharpenings. It does that job very well. No honing steel is going to bring back a dull edge. When the steel isn't working well anymore, use a sharpener to bring the edge back, then hone with the steel to razor-sharp before each use. Plenty of videos out there on how to do each process. The 8" length is fine for all the knives I use, up to 10" chef knife. There are plenty of more expensive options out there, but I don't see how they could be much better than this.

Sharp and affordable
So far so good. The price is right for home use. I needed to touch up the edge just a bit, but is a razor now. I would buy it again. I actually ordered the 14in as well. There are few more from this line that I would like to get as well.

Good blade and ergonomics, but so so quality construction
Got this knife not long ago, used it right out of the box and worked ok (not super sharp like you would want a carving/slicing knife to be) but was sharp. I honed the blade a little and it was good and sharp. The steel seems to be pretty good and holds and edge well, just be careful if you carving a bone in roast, blade can get dull quick if you hit a bone.As others stated the handle is the problem. I have large hands and it sorta fits, a bit small for me. The riveting is poor quality, and do poke your hand (a little sanding and problem solve. But you, the consumer, should not have to fix the sellers quality control problems).Overall I like the blade, I like the look, I like the shape of the blade and the quality, but it is a an inexpensive knife and for the money it is not bad.If you don't mind fixing a few problems, it is a good knife. Regardless, I am still not 100% sure I am going to keep it.

Does the Job!
This knife fulfills its promise -- slices through large cuts of beef with relative ease. A breaking knife makes it easy to "sub-divide" large, economical, cuts of beef ribs into smaller roasts as well as rib eye steaks. This knife is far better at such tasks than any other knife, serrated or not, that I've ever used. Wish I had purchased this 20 years ago!

Outstanding knife but
This knife does a great job with so many applications and after owning several knives like this one over the years I offer the following suggestion. In order to keep a razor like sharpness these knives require a knife sharpener that sharpens the blade to a 14-15% degree of edge. Most American knives are 20-25% hence most sharpeners hone the blades accordingly. You should have something like a Chef's Choice Trizor XV or similar. Once purchased you can condition your current knives to become knives with a 14-15% degree edge.
