Q: Is this button shirt thick or thin?

It is thin polyester but it is my miracle shirt! It keeps you cool in the sun but warm when you need it (like when you get caught in sleet near a mountain top). I think I wore it everyday on my trip to Colorado last year. It was perfect for rafting and hiking. It packs down to almost nothing. I'm going to order another one!

Q: what is that lighter strip of fabric on chest near buttons?

Actually you could put a ring in there or a single key for safe-keeping. I think a credit card wouldn’t work. Maybe a flexible card or ID.

Q: Where are the drawstring ties?

There aren't drawstring ties on this shirt. There are tabs with buttons if you want to roll the sleeves up, but that's it. It's a very comfortable shirt, fits well, and sleeves are long enough. Also has two buttons on the cuffs so you can adjust the wrists.

Q: Is the fabric treated in any way?

It doesn’t state anywhere that it’s treated. I believe the UPF comes from the weave of the fabric.
