So many great receipies
My boyfriend and I recently decided to introduce our children to foods around the world. I had taken a world foods class in high school and remembered how interesting it was trying different foods. Seeing as we have some distant relatives that are Korean, I figured it would be great to try it out! I was shocked to discover that rice is a staple for Korean food and is even used in alcohol! I thought meat was the main focus of the menu. I love the little history behind the food, the introduction, and how the author makes it person. The recipes themselves are great! You will want to invest in a rice cooker and nonstick stir-fry pan to make things easier. This author also mentions a few other tools that an be useful. There is even a section about staple ingredients you will need as well as some brand recommendations, which is great for a beginner like I am. The recipes are broken down by stocks and sauces, kimchi and pickles, appetizers and anju, side dishes, soups and stews, rice and noodles, fish and seafood, poultry and meat, fusion fare, and drinks and sweet treats. It makes it easy to go to exactly which section you want. If you want to make a chicken meal, you don't have to read through all the recipient to find one, just go strait to the meat and poultry section. I am amazed at the range of receipies in here and I like how they show how spicy they are. This is a great book for anyone wanting to make Korean food.I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

A great cookbook for anyone looking to make authentic Korean Food.
I am not a fan of Korean food....so why did I read a Korean cookbook you ask?? My husband loves all kinds of food, and he's asked me to broaden my horizons when it comes to the food I make and I'm always willing to try new things. Here's the thing. I still don't like korean food....BUT that's a personal preference so I decided to review this cookbook from a point of view of someone who does like korean food and the ease of following the recipes and actually making the recipes. If you're interested in the Korean culture the first section of the book of the book is great. There's a lot of information about the Korean food culture and it was definitely interesting to read. The section I found most helpful was on cooking rice. I do love rice and I got some great tips on how to make better rice and I'm excited to utilize these tips and use my newly bought rice maker. Now for the recipes …They are very easy to follow and the instructions are very thorough. I will say that cooking Korean food calls for a lot of specific ingredients and not just stuff you're going to have laying around your kitchen, so be sure you adequately prepare with the proper ingredients if you plan on making recipes from this book. I may attempt to make some of the easier recipes, like the honey and ginger cookies and I will definitely be making the soy sauce!I received this product for free in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.

Yum! New recipes to add to our weekly rotation.
I was so excited when I saw that Ms. Imatome-Yun had released a new cookbook. Several of the recipes from her previous cookbook, Cooking with Gochujang have become staples in our household. I was eager to check out the new book. I sat down to skim through the book and ended up reading through the entire thing before I put it down. I usually skim through cookbooks and flag the recipes I am interested in making. By the time I got through tagging this book, my markings were nearly useless because I had flagged so much of the book!In the past, I have not cooked a lot of Korean recipes at home because I was too intimidated despite my love of Korean food. These recipes work for me because:- they overwhelmingly call for ingredients that I have readily available. Adding just a couple of items to my pantry makes almost all the recipes doable without advanced planning.- the time to cook and steps required are completely manageable for a weekday meal- lots of suggestions for adjustments and variations are available in the book to adapt the recipe to your needs- they are delicious! We had the grilled marinated chicken as lettuce wraps last night and my whole family was raving about it. My son declared it the best chicken he has ever had. Adding this one to the regular rotation! Can’t wait to try some of the others.Such a great cookbook!

Mouth-Watering!
I was quite surprised by how much I loved this book! The first chapter feels like you are just sitting down and chatting with the author...learning a little about her, the history of the cuisine and culture as well as information on the essentials (both kitchenware and staples) that you will need on hand. The "inside scoop" was amazing...you get a lifetime of tricks and tips, substitutions and recommendations. Then there are the recipes...everything from basic stocks, sauces and marinades to appetizers, sides, rice and noodles, fish/meat/poultry, drinks and sweets to the delightful "Fusion Fare". For each recipe there is an intro paragraph, prep & cook time, the name of the recipe in English. Korean AND written in Korean! Then you are given clear instructions and in most cases a "variation tip". The only thing I can think of that would make this book better is if it included more photographs of the dishes.I love cookbooks...I love to cook and I really love to eat, but I would not call myself adventurous in any of those senses. I guess that is why I'm amazed at how many recipes I bookmarked! I live in a smaller rural community so we don't have a Korean Store, but I am making my list for the next time I venture to the 'big city'. Highly recommended if you like Asian fare and/or like to experiment when you cook!"I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review."

Let’s Cook Korean!
My best friend loves Korean food. We even have a favorite Korean eatery we head for once a month. So after consulting chef friends, reading reviews and thumbing through this delightful book, I gave it as a birthday gift. She loved it. Now I think I’ll buy one for myself!

Only few photos
The recipes look good so I will post an update after I make some. I am disappointed that there are only about 10 photos in this book. I like my recipe books with photos. Had I known, I wouldn't have purchased it.Also, it arrived wet so the book is now wavy (photo is of three books in my order, this book is on bottom). I hope I can dry it out and flatten the pages.
