All the Devils: A Livia Lone Novel, Book 3

My favorite Eisler book
I have read the Rain and Lone books and really enjoyed all of them, but I think All the Devils is the best of the lot. The villains are well developed and the good guys are in real peril. I rarely have an emotional reaction to a modern thriller, but I felt this one. Thanks Barry! Looking forward to more.

Killer Read. Intense.
Eisner never fails to give a great ride! Too frequently, I find myself speed reading some characters internal chatter to get to the action that is just another page away.Just read him. And always read the notes that follow each book. Barry Eisner does his research and knows some very interesting people.

Excellent!!
This riveting story will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love that the dialogue is not repetitive even though you are following the same characters. Very interesting storyline and unique placement in territory. He gives enough info to be enticing but not just for filler. If you are ready to dive in, plan on staying up late. It's worth it.

Another Amazing Thriller!
Trying to summarize would be a disservice. All the Olivia !one stories are compelling, researched, taut, action packed. Eisler is excellent at enveloping the reader in his settings using all the senses which is why I think he has such a following. Highly recommend.

Solid storytelling
After reading the first two in the series, the story felt predictable; yet that same predictability meant I knew I'd have an engrossing read with a satisfying ending. One other thing I like about Eisler's work is that the details are always researched, adding to the realness of the story.

story.
Love the heroine Livia, B. Eisley paints such a good story. The story is edgy, dramatic and captivating. Looking forward to the next.

Livia is relentless as ever
In the first book Seattle sex crimes detective and extrajudicial angel of vengeance, Livia Lone, tracked down the men who had trafficked her and her sister to America when they were children. We saw her finally experience some semblance of closure by finding out the truth of what happened to her sister. We saw her exact revenge on those directly responsible. We saw how far this highly-trained force of nature was willing to go in her crusade. In The Night Trade we saw her ambitiously go after the thai trafficking network itself, and inadvertently the powerful governmental agencies enabling them. Along the way she recruits Dox, the deadly sniper with the disarming sense of humor and texas-drawl, into her mission and the planting of seeds for their tangled relationship. In The Killer Collective we saw Livia become a nexus and assemble the most dangerous and efficient group of operators, assassins, and mercenaries in Eisler's fleshed out universe to take on a conspiracy of corruption that reaches to the highest levels of power. And in All the Devils? This isn't a globe-trotting adventure like the previous books, it might be a more proper detective novel, but the stakes are just as high.Livia helps her...ally(reluctant friend?), Homeland security investigator B.D. Little, in finally finding out what happened to his missing daughter and in the process uncovers a trail of grizzly assaults and murders going back decades. Livia has to contend with forces in her own department that are piecing together the trail of bodies behind her, mysterious military contractors, shadowy high-level government officials, and most dangerous of all, her own demons along the way. The result is a growth of character that I appreciated and a plot that truly kept me wondering where it would eventually lead.Livia is an amazing character--hands down my favorite fictional female character and easily in the top 10 overall--to sneak in a quote from Matthew Stover, another beloved author, albeit from a very different genre, "Each of us is the sum of our scars". Livia exemplifies this. She is fierce, ferocious, unyielding, yet amazingly fragile when it comes to interpersonal relationships. For anyone who is close to a victim of assault, or has suffered assault themselves, this is all too common--the looking for an emotional anchor, 'normalcy', and stability, and then shutting down and pushing it away when offered. But through this turmoil Livia shines. She may be a complete badass, willing to take on all comers, yet she shows some restraint this time around. There's a struggle between coloring within the lines and the dark rage of her 'dragon'. To see Livia as the sensible one in some parts was a real treat. I'm excited to see where that goes in the future. With the horrible reality that drives Livia's crusade (as one character states, she's a zealot), one hopes there are some real life people out there like her--sheepdogs sure, but Livia is more than half-wolf(or half dragon)at least, she takes the hunt to the predators.tl;dr buy the damned book.

If you are a fan of Barry Eisler's action packed novels you should check out All the Devils.
After reading most of Barry Eisler’s John Rain novels and two of his Livia Lone novels and loved them; I decided to purchase this one (All the Devils by Barry Eisler, A Livia Lone Novel) on Amazon. I just finished this fantastic action packed 352 page soft cover volume and as with all of his books I thoroughly enjoyed the many twists and turns in this novel. The character of Livia Lone is complex and unique. Her past abuse at the hands of child sex abuse criminals has shaped her personal view of life and produced a vengeful woman who will do anything to find, bring to justice and most of all destroy those evil criminals.Since Livia Lone is a sex-crime detective on the Seattle Police department her expertise is known far and wide and she is often contacted on possible sensitive cases involving high profile people involving sex crimes. I never give away too much information when reviewing novels; however, if you enjoyed reading previous Livia Lone novels you will love this page turning story in which she again pursues and administers her special brand of justice to the evil sexual predators before they end up in jail.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Tactical Principles of the most effective Combative Systems).

Good read.
I have given the book 3 stars after debating whether to give it 3 or 4 and I may have done Mr Eisler a disservice. If so I apologise.I found the book a thoroughly entertaining read and finished it in two afternoon sessions ( one of the few good things about getting old!). My problems came mainly with Detective Lone. I just failed to connect with her. The contrast between her avenging persona and the character that seemed to be breaking into tears every time something nice was said to her, just jarred. The same with her close relationships. The reason I feel that I may have done Mr Eisler a disservice is because I think the problem I had with Dectective Lone might well be down to me rather than the book. I think I made a mistake by reading the third book in the series first, rather than starting with number one and so missing out possibly, on crucial character development.I will read books one and two and if they alter my opinion I will return and upgrade the rating.

The Livia Lone series just gets better
This is the 3rd book in Barry Eisler's, Livia Lone series, though the 4th to feature her as a character (this book follows, The Killer Collective).I thoroughly enjoyed the first book but wasn't entirely sure I liked her as a character, but after the 2nd book and pairing her with Dox, she's definitely grew on me and I now consider her to be just as important as the other main characters in the Rain-verse.All the Devils' picks up plot threads first laid out in the first book, as we find Livia and Little on the hunt of the predators who disappeared Little's daughter years ago, and who have become active again. Parts of the book are quite harrowing as they deal with abuse on women, but the people in this book have Livia on their side and she is relentless in her quest for justice. There's some wonderful action scenes, some tender moments and the book drives Livia's story and character-arc further.Would definitely recommend this and the other books in the series

Please keep writing
Having completed all of the Livia Lone books, I now feel as if something is missing from my world! Labee makes a wonderfully complete yet completely flawed heroine, who still comes across as a thoroughly likeable human being. Although the subject matter is dark, there is just enough light to balance things out in the end; enough to stop sadness and depression creeping in. Please, let's have more Livia and Dox soon.

Usual good standard from Barry Eisner
Barry Eisner has created a well rounded character in Livia Lone. I like his usual meticulous scoping of the locations . Especially enjoy the cross over character of Dox taking a lead role. As with others by this author i find i read teh book very quickly and then don't want it to end. I eagerly await the next instalment .
