So far it's quiet! Thank thank you from our family and neighbors!
We have tried a few collars and our hound lab mix either didn't mind the shocking or it was shocking randomly and he was learning anything!I put it on him tonight after several training sessions with the sport dog remote and he seemed to get this right away. I don't have to catch him barking....he barked 1 time and got quiet. Tried again and got quiet... Only tried his repeated barking 1 time and then it was quiet!! I think we found a winner! Oh I hope so. We can't be here all the time and he loves to bark at the other dogs people deer birds whatever! Loves to bark for attention from me and our other dog when he wants to play...he is 6 months old and 70+lbs. so he thinks play time is all the time! Our 11 year old just glares at him while he is 3" away from the huge puppy and he is barking non stop! Like hey it's time to play do you want to oaky I want to play! I want to play! It's cute but he is loud and he is a lot of dog to deal with and the barking is soooo much! I will update after a week...we have spent hundreds on good trainers and cheap trainers.... This one hasn't gone off while he is sitting there behaving like the cheap one did...and I don't have to wear the remote or be around to train him. It's a loud beep. And he stops! Another louder beep. He stops. Another beep if he barks again and he feels the correction! Didn't try for more for a while and after 2 barks. He was quiet! Update 2 weeks and hard head has figured it out. Worth barking for most things and then barks like crazy after it goes through the levels then stops for a bit and if he wants to bark he must feel it's worth the pain! Back to remote collar training it works but only when we are home to work it.Update. Batteries seem to die quickly and it isn't working well anymore....he learned to ignore it and it is back to looking for something else.

Well, I'm hopeful, BUT it came with only half the instructions. There's only one page of two pages that should be there. So I'm having to guess at what comes after "when you install . . . " This doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Nevertheless she's got it on and we shall see.I'm noticing that all of these glowing reviews are placed in a very short time frame. I didn't see that before. Makes me a little suspicious. But we'll give it a try and I'll report back in a while. This is an extreme case - Bluetick Coonhound - so it should be a serious test of this thing.UPDATE: Yes it works. She responded to it immediately. I don't see any indication that it's hurting her so I feel pretty good about it.It looks pretty tough but I still wonder if it'll be holding up a year from now. She's pretty athletic outdoor type dog.I still don't like the missing instructions otherwise I might give it a 5.

Works for my dog
I like that this collar has warning beeps before initial shock. My dog doesn't like that so after wearing it on and off for a couple weeks, he has only been shocked once. It seemed to really bother him as he yelped pretty loudly, but he also acts cries out loudly when he gets a shot. I checked his neck for any marks and there weren't any, I think it just scared the heck out of him. Since then, just putting on the collar makes him refrain from barking. The only issue I have is that I don't know what sensitivity level it is set at because there are only buttons. But I like that the package came with two batteries, haven't had to replace it yet.

A better fit
My chihuahua is notorious for barking up a storm anytime there is a knock at the door, rain drops on the roof, a leaf brushes up against the window. I had a collar for him before but it was clunky so I bought this one. This one is much nicer and isn't heavy like the last one was. My dog cried once while it was on, and now I don't even have the battery in it while he wears it but he stays mostly quiet. I like having multiple settings because he is very small and just a tiny amount is needed to get him to quiet down. I think it works great.

Did the trick
We have been dealing with the most anxious aggravating dog, we were about to give her up or loose our minds. When we would leave for work shed howl, try to escape, eat through fencing, destroying a metal crate completely, ate up $100 blinds, but all the wood off a door casing... The list goes on. This thing out her in her place quick fast and in a hurry. She associates bad with yapping and carrying on like a fool... And I guess she doesn't advance to the destructive behavior as a result of the shocks. The noise preset helps. On a side note... The noise of a nearby bug zapper might send a dog wearing this collar into a panic like it did with mine, I guess she associated the buzz with how the collar warns before it shocks? Just don't put them in the same area for the pups sanity sake.

We have a great dog, but his breed was bred to be a watch dog and bark to protect the home (then he licks you to death). While he was fine on walks, the barking around the home had become a big issue with him exploding into barking and annoying us all (including the neighbors). He had already been trained for an electric fence and a remote collar, so he knew about the beep then shock thing. We got the bark collar on Saturday, got it fit on him in about 10 minutes and I can count on one hand the number of times we have heard him bark in the three days since we put the collar on. And if he does bark, it is just one bark and then he is silent. This collar has worked wonderfully!!!

Terrific
I do not review products often, but this one has been so great I'd be remiss if I didn't put in my 20 cents. Amazing, amazing, amazing product. My 85-lb pitbull mix went totally crazy whenever I made a fire in my fireplace. He'd bark like mad and would not stop even after he'd been exposed to fireplace fires on numerous occasions. I put this little baby round his neck and the next thing you know the hound is sprawled in front of the hearth, totally relaxed and cool, like a dog is SUPPOSED to (I thought that chilling in front of a fire sort of comes with the dog job description). I totally recommend this product and it's a fraction of what the pet store chains want for their bark collars.
