green thumb eye candy in Washington D.C.
More than 30 Washington D.C. area gardens and parks are featured in this detail dense guide. Some may be familiar, but even an avid green thumbed reader is likely to learn about exciting new spaces to visit. Local residents will find details about almost a dozen sites in Maryland and Virginia. Maps at the front of this 2012 book can help with trip planning. I am glad I stumbled across this book and can visit these gorgeous sites from my armchair.

Exploring the District Gardens and Parks
This Book is a must have for me and anyone else who thinks they know the District. Although, I thought I knew the District well, this book proves other wise. The places, photography, and descriptions have opened a District that I never knew; a beautifully described, professionally pictured Book that has given me the desire to return to the District one last time, using the book as a guide. One more addition to my bucket list, a great one, as a result of this Beautiful Book. I want to Thank the Photographer and Writer!

Excellent gift book!
I love this book! I can't imagine why nobody had previously written a guidebook to the many incredible gardens in the Washington area. Because of its small size, this is a handy book to carry along, and it is affordable, even though it is filled with magnificent color photographs. The narrative gives DC natives or tourists enough of a preview to decide when to visit each of these wonderful gardens. It would be a wonderful gift for any nature lover.

Great Guide
Though we'd visited many of the parks and gardens in the area of Washington, DC, this book offers photography and commentary that adds so much more to our experience. It even covers gardens that we'd never heard of, and now have on our "list." It contains beautiful photography and the narrative is very informative. Highly recommended.

Outstanding Photography
Great pictures and history of otherwise unseen and little known private gardens in the DC area. Great for getting ideas to plan your backyard gardens from a visual prospective rather than a horticultural one.

This is a "must have" book for anyone living in Metropolitan Washington, DC who loves to explore and appreciate our surrounding beauty. I am a licensed DC tourist guide and I have to confess, I was not aware of many of the gardens featured in Maryland and Virginia. The photography is rich and inviting. A great local guide and a perfect gift.
