QuickBooks Online for Nonprofits & Churches: The Step-By-Step Guide (The Accountant Beside You)

Great teaching tool

Good resource for me, a newbie to Quickbooks. I' m working with an online version that was set up by someone else, and their choices seem confusing and inconsistent. Having this guide is helping navigate around and through that. One drawback--the illustrations all have these big, fat, curved arrows pointing to the area of discussion. I find them obtrusive and would prefer smaller, thinner, straight, dark, arrows that don't make the illustration so 'busy.' The author seems to know the system, and accounting principles very well, and her explanations about why things should be done a certain way (for religious organizations such as ours) is very helpful.

I know how to use QBO but still needed a little extra help on cleaning up a COA and how to deal with restricted donations. I was very disappointed that the section on COA explains what is needed but there were no samples unless you "purchase on our website!" That's what I thought I was buying the book for, not a link to buy more (kindle so can't even return or sell to someone else). I tried to use the suggestions for recording and tracking restricted donations, but it doesn't allow for a thorough report if spent on capital expenses as well. Disappointed.

I am so thankful for the work that Lisa has done in this area! After working in a church and being the primary bookkeeper, it didn't take long to learn that church bookkeeping/accounting is very different than anything else. QuickBooks Online is not set up for such a thing, but Lisa helps add understanding and how-to's to get the job done. Thank you, Lisa!

The book is a helpful source to using QBO to keep the books and prepare financials for churches and other non-profit organizations. You don’t have to be a CPA or even taken accounting classes. Just read the book and follow along! It’s as if the author is right on your shoulder giving you easy step-by-step instructions from start to finish. This is a must have read for anyone keeping the books!

Even though aimed squarely at the US, there seems to be no equivalent book for the UK, as Quick Books, for some reason have not issued a charity version of their software here. But the concepts and features are relatively easily able to "migrate" to here, and there are some very useful tips and ideas. Couple with a great price, and well worth a read!

Easy to follow, although content is strictly American.
