A sensible travel surf casting rod needing a couple of small mods
Pros: The attractive medium action blank is good quality and I like the aluminum reel seat. The storage tube and cloth bag with 4 divisions is nice. The rod balances well to lightweight multipliers/conventional reels like my Penn Squall 15 and Fathom 15. There aren't many conventional surf casting travel rods out there in the world, and this one is very cost-effective at half the price than the comparable travel St. Croix.Cons: Just two small gripes. Travel rods are a design compromise and unfortunately the lower lower grip is only about 12.5" long, which is too short to properly leverage the blank on long distance casts. The top three guides are narrow and 30 lb mono about the max for a shock leader even with slim main-to-leader knots like the Albright and FG. There are workarounds for these two shortcomings though.

Penn reels dont fit.
Rod seems good. I have yet to test it. Penn reels do not seat well in it though. They rock side to side and loosen the reel off. I am trying to find some way to secure it. I will update.
