This book is a wonderful tribute to an American institution. Thanks to Richard Gutman for sharing his passion for diners in this comprehensive and informative book depicting diner history and their lasting impact on our culture.

What I like best is the Pictures of all those Stainless Steel Diners from The 40,s & 50,s. Also what I like about this Book is their listing of at leastMOST of the Diner Builders from the past & present. For I plan to very soon put up a Diner like that at my ownHome City & it gave me some tips & pointers on what a Diner should be & not to be.

This was a gift for my husband, he likes the book but wishes there were more listings for the Midwest. Most of the diners listed are or were on the east coast.

I bought this book as research for a novel I'm writing. I had no idea how many diners there were in the "old days" and even now. I loved the book, it was exactly as described, and arrived in perfect condition and quickly.

Ce n'est pas un livre très luxueux, ni bon marché. Par contre c'est une bible écrite par le pape des diners, une référence. Si on s'intéresse au sujet on est sans arrêt en train de s'y replonger: le plan est excellent pour vite trouver ce que l'on cherche, la couverture souple et le format à l'italienne facilite la lecture, bref, base indispensable

ils font partie de toute l'histoire de l'Amérique depuis toujours... que sont-ils donc devenus depuis ces temps lointains ??? combien en reste-t-il et où ???
