The Best Pruning shears yet
UPDATE 08/31/16Last weekend I used these to remove smaller branches of an overgrown shrub at ground level that were up to 1/2 inch thick so that I could make repairs to a damaged sprinkler system. I liked that the green part on the handle rotated which allowed me a better grip to cut the branches of the shrub.Original ReviewThese are great and easier to use. My wife uses them around the yard and my wife loves them. My wife is slightly arthritic and these were much easier to use for her. We routinely cut branches up to 1/2 inch and sometime a little larger. I have an electric chain (pole) saw which I use to take down larger branches up to 8 inches thick and we use this to cut up the branches once they are on the ground to make it easier to dispose of.

Best Shears on the Market - Especially for Older Gardeners with Reduced Physical Strength
I absolutely love these pruning shears! I got them to trim an unruly tree by my drive and, being an older woman with not much physical strength, I read the reviews and hoped I would be able to snap off small branches with these. I was NOT disappointed, but happily surprised!! I was able to cut through branches up to and over 1/2" thick with no strength at all. I also love the way they rotate and the finger protection guard - all these features together make trimming even thorny rose bushes so easy! They are super sharp, which also increases their efficiency. Best shears on the market!

A great pruning shears for those who must deal with arthritis in their hands and fingers.
The Davaon Anvil Pruner appears to be tailor made for people suffering from the effects of arthritis in their fingers as well as undergoing joint, replacement there. Being unable to garden was such a loss and now, to be able to do at least some pruning has brought a great deal of pleasure. To the extent that it allows continuation of such activities, we have now also bought the bypass partner, too. Heartfelt thanks Davaon!

Best Pruners I have ever owned
I bought these at the same time as the Davaon Bypass Shears, as a regular gardener I knew we needed something different for our dried out plants and like to have the right tool. These do not disappoint. They are great quality, which you feel straight away and they made light work of anything we cut into. The blade is very sharp and the metal anvil grips better than our old plastic ones. The new rotating grip works and does what was described. It rotates perfectly with my hand grip and makes it far more comfortable and far less strenuous on my hands than the old style anvil pruners. I really noticed the difference when I'd finished as my hand didn't hurt. The protection guard is also a great feature as it kept my fingers away from some of the rougher branches. Not one scratch on my hands. These are a well designed, high quality pruner that have a lot of power for not as much effort and I'm sure they will last some years. Recommended with out a doubt.

Can't recommend...
I bought these hoping the higher price would translate into performance and longevity. While the rotating handle definitely worked fantastically in regards to my arthritis, the actual cutting performance of the shears degraded so quickly I returned to my 30 year-old shears. The cutting blade seemed to lose it's edge quickly, while the anvil side has a groove in it that rapidly filled with debris and also seemed too wide and deep to facilitate a decent cut.I found myself ripping, rather than cutting. The shears worked okay on larger limbs and stalks, but became unusable on normal, small stems, leaves and stalks. I am not happy with these shears and just cannot recommend them, The fact that I went into my account and pulled this purchase up in order to write a warning review should say something about how aggravating this product is.

Great Gardening Tool
These are by far the best pruning shears I have owned. They effortlessly, even larger branches. The wonderfully ergonomic handle is great for anyone with arthritis or other hand issues ~ their design gives your hand the extra boost it needed to get the job done. Great tool!!!

nice anvil pruner!
I got these for my wife because she is not mindful with my tools. She damaged several of my small pruning shears by trying to cut thick branches. Not with these! Beefy cutters nice edge on cutting side. The anvil has serration or gnarling to grip the piece to be cut. Very well thought out design and the price can't be beat.

Best Pruning Shears I've ever tried
These Pro Anvil Shears are amazing. I can even cut through the bamboo on one side of our yard (up to about 5/8 or ¾ inch). Nothing I've had cuts through bamboo except a saw. I love the grip and the way that the opening is adjustable. Great product! An easy 5 stars

I was dubious but they are brilliant
I have RA and struggle to do any gardening now. I bought due to other RA people recommending. When I took them out I was disappointed. The way it moved felt uncontrollable. BUT the minute you try to snip a branch that movement is what helps. Much less pressure needed and I find it turns to the exact point to snip, without my wrist doing the work .. after a few hours in the garden my neck back legs arms are in pain but my fingers and wrists arent .. I never give 5 stars but on this occasion I will

More trouble than it's worth
Using these secateurs is an infuriating experience. The metal clip that is meant to lock the secateurs into a fixed position keeps coming loose so every time I use the secateurs I wind up having to get a screwdriver to tighten the metal clip back into its proper position. A very poor implementation of a simple design.

Not my ideal secateurs
I feel that I should have picked a simpler secateurs. I don't like the way that the finger-guard handle rolls when being used. I don't particularly like the bottom half of the actual cutting blades - strange to have it being a wide and flat, grooved, surface (with the top half blade closing into the groove in the cutting action). I also find that it has difficulty cutting through very thin branches (which do occur when you are pruning a certain part of a shrub to a uniform surface area "depth").

Excellent quality secateurs
I purchased both types of secateurs ( anvil and bypass ) and believe them to be the best I have ever used. They are very sharp and both offer an efficient and effective cut to the branch. They both feel very good and comfortable in your hand . I particularly like the twist motion in the lower handle which is automatically made as you cut the branch. They feel as if they should last a lifetime and both have priority place in my gardening bag ready for use.
