Transponder useless if you have a key programmed already..
This product only works with the transponder if it doesn't already have a key programmed.. in order for it to work you have to get a scanner tool with a key programmer and delete the old key and program the new one.. if you already have an old or lost key programmed they transponder is useless.. but will be able to program key with scan tool...

Cheaper than a locksmith, but be willing to experiment with instructions
To preface, the device worked and I got the provided key fob as well as two fobs from another manufacturer (same part #) synced to my vehicle. It was an overall cost savings for me to purchase this part and do this myself than it was to have a locksmith code my fobs for me. For that, 5 stars. The instructions on the device were misleading, however, and I had to fiddle with it to figure out what the different-colored light and beep patterns meant. The device instructs to turn ignition to ON first before inserting the device into the car's computer port. When I did this, the device flashed green when plugged in, but did not alert with red light and buzzer like the instructions said it should, Instead, it beeped and flashed an amber light after about a minute, and repeated every minute or so. I was unable to code my fobs at any point during this process.I instead decided to plug in the device and THEN turn the ignition to ON. When I did this, the light blinked green, then immediately Red and the buzzer sounded. I was able to code my key fobs in about 5 seconds each, and the device beeped and flashed red to confirm each fob. Everything works great now.Because the instructions were incorrect and I had to fiddle with it (for my specific vehicle at least, Buick 2005 LaCrosse, no remote start), -1 star.

Saved lots of money and it worked!
These guys have great customer service! The first programmer worked with the supplied key fob, but a second remote I purchased from them did not, even though the tool was still in the programming mode (fob did not have have the FCC etchings on the back so the part was evidently a knockoff.). We tried a second shipment but the tool blinked green twice, then never buzzed to enter programming mode. I tried every alteration of their instructions with no luck. Thinking maybe the programmer had been used more than 3 times (the maximum successful uses) I asked them to please try to make this work. Three times the charm! I still had to alter their directions slightly. On my car, if you follow the directions exactly, you will turn the key to ignition on (second key position just before crank) plug the tool in the OBD port, and it should buzz and enter programming mode. Mine (like others on this site) just blinked green twice, then nothing. After almost giving up, I tried one more variation. While leaving the key in the ignition on position, pull the tool off the OBD port (takes some force) then reinsert it. It may take multiple attempts, but leave the key in the ignition. Eventually you should get an immediate beep when inserting the programmer, at which time you can continue programming the fobs as advertised by holding the lock and unlock buttons till you hear a beep (about 5 seconds per remote on my car.). Hope this helps. Anyway, APDTY really values customer satisfaction and I really appreciate their help bearing with me. I will be using them for parts in the future.

Incredibly easy to do something previously unavailable without expensive dealership costs
The cheapest replacement key fob for my Cobalt that I found was at Car Keys Express for 60. Even then the technician had some difficulty programming it; he had to resort to an older unit and program it using the Chevy Malibu settings. This device was extremely simple to use and cheaper than anywhere else. There are a couple of cons, though.1) You must reprogram ALL of your fobs with the OBD device. I programmed the one which came in this order and my others stopped working. I performed the programming procedure again, this time with all my fobs before removing the OBD device and they all worked.2) The fob is a slightly different shape and doesn't seem as strongly built as the others I have. Time will tell how it holds up.3) As others have mentioned, the OBD programmer is a very tight fit and is difficult to remove once it is on. I felt that I might break something pulling it off, but with some force I was able to remove it.Overall, I am impressed that this device exists and how easy it was to use. I recommend it for anyone who needs a new key fob for their Chevy Cobalt.

like others here
Hopefully this helps at least one of you. I, like others here, could not get this to work at all. I became very frustrated and disappointed with the product so I started the return. Afterward, I stumbled upon a forum with tips on repramming the key fob without the dealer. I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS, no remote start or OnStar etc., just basic. It turns out that the fob receiver module built into the car relies on the 15A radio fuse, also inside the car, not under the hood. To my surprise, this fuse was blown (when I installed my aftermarket radio I did not utilize the radio fuse so that's why I hadn't noticed it was fried). I replaced the fuse (see photo, easily located on the passenger side behind the plastic panel. There are spare fuses in this box as well as the fuse box under the hood) and bam the programming tool and new key fob programmed in seconds after following the instructions again. Needless to say I cancelled the return and am very satisfied. The dealer was going to charge me $85 for the fob and $40 to program it.

Programed remote fob for 06 Solstice
The OBDII programmer and extra fob arrived two days earlier than expected. I was able to program the fob in less than two minutes. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I was dreading needing to go to a dealer to get the fobs programed. Since the Solstice does not have door mounted lock/unlock buttons, the only way to program a fob is to pay at a dealership or find someone with an OBDII diagnostic tool. This was a much more affordable option.

Programmer does work on second fob
Manage to program one fob but doesn’t seem to work on second fob. I returned second fob and replaced with different one but doesn’t program the second one. Very disappointed
