My Wizard of Oz blu-ray disc has arrived!!
I received my Wizard of Oz blu-ray disc in the mail today and am so happy with it! I'm excited to watch this in HD for the first time. There's also a bonus 2 hour documentary, " The Making of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz" that's included and looks very interesting. My package took several weeks to get here in NJ from the seller in England and you would never know how far it had traveled or how long it was in transit. The movie arrived in a small padded envelope and everything was perfectly in tact. Very happy with my purchase and with the seller. Will happily buy from them again in the future. 😊

Not 16:9 as listed. Digital Ultraviolet expired
The package says "Main Feature" is 1080p High Definition 16x9, and Dolby 5.1 - it's not. The ratio is 5:4. Also, the "Digital HD Ultraviolet" feature to download your own copy on you phone, etc. has expired (3/11/2017). BUT - the picture quality is great. It's still worth the price. A classic!

Can make a grown man tear up!
I bought this as a gift to my bf for our anniversary and Wizard of Oz is one of his classic favorites! He opened the box and was tear eyed for the whole thing because of how much he loved it and all the detail that was put into it, is phenomenal! Worth every penny!!

Digital-HD Expired
Blu-ray quality was fine. The problem is that there is no Digital-HD copy. It expired in March 2017; plus you have to live in England or Ireland to use it. Anyway, why put a British Isles activation coupon inside a disc meant for the US?Hey Amazon, how about tell the Warner Bros to send me a new activation code? I'm in the US. Yikes!

Not Wide Screen
Image Quality and Color are good, but... The box states that the movie is presented in a 16:9 Aspect Ratio... it's not. Only the Menu is 16:9, the movie itself is still the old square tube picture format.

Great movie and great price- but beware the Digital UltraViolet ...
Great movie and great price- but beware the Digital UltraViolet is for UK only. Also requires a no region BluRay player. This is in the small editorial line above but is not in the descriptions. In fact it says all regions in the technical details. It isn't.

Beautifully restored
I'm happy to report the 4k Blu Ray version of the Wizard of Oz is hands down the best it's ever looked on home release. The colours, textures and overall look of the film is just gorgeous for something filmed nearly 100 years ago now. So many quotes from this film have become iconic, it's impressive on so many levels, both technical and narratively. It's amazing how well the special effects hold up, check out the tornado scene for instance.A few aspects of the film are starting to show their age, mostly how so much of it is obviously shot on a sound stage. There's something so fresh and innocent now about this film, it was directed by the master Victor Fleming.Happy to recommend to people of all ages.Aspect ratio 4:3.

If I only had a brain... (I could have saved twenty quid).
The greatest film ever made, bar none. It might not be the intellectual choice, but I've bought this so many times over the years (is it nine or is it ten?) that it would be silly to give the honour to anything else. The new version, rather like the version of It's A Wonderful Life which was issued around the same time, is not so much better, but rather it's different to the previous Blu-ray Ray. The problem, and the unavoidable truth, is that once you put your Blu-ray copy into a good upscaling 4k machine, you have to be sat pretty close to the tv to even notice a difference.Maybe if you have a screen that's got a six foot or more diagonal then you'll welcome the extra pixels, but on my 55 inch set I genuinely don't think I've gained anything. After all, unless I'm very badly informed, don't cinemas screen movies using Blu-ray discs? And you don't hear people walking out complaining that they could have done with a shaper picture. But that's not what all this is about, is it? The 4k revolution, much like the movement from vinyl to CDs, is more to do with the film companies needing an excuse to sell us our favorite films over and over again. And we fall for it every time.So if you don't own a copy of Oz, then why not? And you need to buy one, whether it's this or any other. But if you already have it, then whether you get it depends entirely on whether you have twenty pounds to burn.Either way, it's always going to be a five star review for a five star movie.

How This Film Ever Got Made Will Astound You.
Watch the film and then watch the special features. You will wonder how this film ever got made. It was dogged by problems all the way through. But it is a Genuine Classic to watch. If you have not bought this film, you should. It is brilliant and I do mean BRILLIANT. A must watch. Have your kids by you when you watch it. They will have more questions than you could ever answer. A joy to watch. Some scenes may frighten younger viewers. Overall, 100 / 100. This film is absolutely brilliant and such a CLASSIC. PC. 14. 11. 2018. Yes Judy Garland goes into a dream. But what a dream !!!!!!!!.

A Wizard of a Special Edition
Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary Special Edition is brilliant. The Picture is as clear and bright as any new movie recorded in HD, let alone a movie made 75 years ago. The sound clear and crisp in DTS, I heard comments and sounds I have never heard before the sound is so clear on my cinema system. The package is two discs, one of which contains hours of extras before you reach the six! yes six, different versions of the Wizard of Oz they have included on the extras disc. These include silent and black and white versions, non of them any newer than 1933. But they are a spectacle worth watching. Some are clear and look remastered, some are rough but still watchable. What a great find, highly recommend if you like this movie.
