Peavey Guitars: The Authorized American History

Peavey Guitar Collectors this is the book for you!
It's amazing to see how many different guitars Peavey created and when they were issued. It's nice to get some background info, like who created what and why... A few guitars were missed... No info on the Liberator and not much on the Jack Daniel series either. I've bought and sold quite a few Peavey USA guitars and find this book very helpful as a reference and highly recommend it.

Great text, horrible pictures
First, the good. I thought Moseley was a musician, but it turns out he’s a darned good writer. He writes an interesting and engaging story, weaving the basic Peavey history with interesting anecdotes. I really enjoyed reading it. My criticisms of the writing are two, and perhaps not entirely valid considering the book is a history. I wanted more info on which models were American made and which imported, and from where. And I wanted info on available finishes and options, which is largely absent. One other criticism is that the collectability section is largely limited to one-offs, which aren’t available to, well, anyone. The bad is really, really bad: the illustrations. With the exception of the covers, every illustration is in a very low res black and white. Even photographs showing a particular finish. It’s as though this is a flea market knockoff by someone who only has access to a cheap eight-gray scale/dithering fifties photocopier whose best days are a half century behind, and he only had mimeograph copies to scan with his 80s handheld 50dpi PC scanner. They are really, really bad. Seriously, I cannot overstate how bad are the illustrations. Resolution is very bad, and level of gray scale is very bad. Seldom are they useful, and never are they pleasant. Honestly, the book would be better without any photographs.I can not recommend this book in its current form. With good color photographs, the book would rate five stars for anyone interested in the subject matter. In its current form, I recommend you stay away. Hopefully, at some point Mr. Moseley’s book gets a reprint with color plates of a quality commiserate with the text. Until then, only those with an extremely strong interest need apply.

Peavey Guitars book review
Fascinating account of Peavey's innovative guitars. I owned a couple of T60's back in the late '70's, and it was interesting to read about the development of that model. Both the guitars and the production methods were highly innovative, and the book goes into quite a lot of detail about that. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that some of the illustrations, especially of Peavey's advertising from the period, are too small to see the ad copy--and there are a few minor typos scattered throughout the book--nothing major, but a little proofreading would have helped. Otherwise I'd recommend this book to anyone who's interested in the history of the electric guitar.

Great book on the history of Peavey Guitars
I love Peavey Guitars and wanted to read about the “why” Peavey got into the guitar manufacturing business. That’s what the book is about. My biggest disappointment with the book is that the pictures of the guitars are not in color. Only Black and a white. I also would have wished each guitar had a picture. I own a Peavey Impact 1. There were 3 editions of the “Impact” guitar. On the whole, I highly recommend this book.

This book shows why it isn't just Fenders and Gibsons- and every Peavey owner should know the story behind instrument!
If you already own a Peavey instrument, you'll quickly be overcome with "a heightened sense of pride" - instilled by this incredible labor of love. Meaningful interviews with the founder, employees- both past and present- and top artists that play them. The book hasover 350 photographs, and 255+ pages, large format. One gets the feeling that the author is a long-time devoted fan of the brand, based on his attention to detail, and the emotion in every story shared. I never knew Peavey made this many different guitars and basses, and I have been collectingavidly for 45 years. I have not owned a Peavey yet, but this book is going to change that. In fact- that's why I bought the book- to beeducated first, in anticipation of a purchase. An American institution whose instrument story has been put together in a single book- it's the best $20 you could spend. You will have more knowledge about Peavey's offerings over the years than 95% of the pawn shops and vintage dealers out there. ( Until they read this book. ) Highly recommended!

Excellent read, highly recommended for anyone with any interest ...
As a musician with a keen interest in rock history, and the evolution of its gear, I could not put this book down. Author Willie G. Mosely delivers a well written documentary of the early history of Peavey Electronics and Hartley's decision in 1984 to add his own guitars to his already seemingly endless line of products for the working musician. With the same mantra as made his amplifiers so successful in the marketplace in the mid 60's, "Quality equipment at a fair price, for the working musician," Peavey took on the "big two," with innovations in product design, production and marketing, drawing the immediate attention of top tier musicians of practically every genre. The research that went into this project is evident, as Moseley takes you virtually step by step throughout the design and production processes, from the original T60 guitar, and T40 bass, through the double-neck customs of the 1990's. Excellent read, highly recommended for anyone with any interest in the history of electric guitars.Larry Steele

Disappointing Incomplete Peavey History
Black and White photos don't do this book justice. Lots of information left out. I was disappointed with this book on the whole. I own 2 Peavey bass guitars and basses are not represented very well. The book needed to be split into 2 books One for Guitars and one for Bass Guitars. Not enough info on Dyna Basses or the T-40 which is an iconic bass guitar. The book is named Peavey Guitars but please write another book comprehensively devoted to the plethora of Peavey Basses with colour photos. This book was expensive enough to warrant colour pictures and complete information.

At first glance this book seems to be very comprehensive ...
At first glance this book seems to be very comprehensive. It is well written and has information and items not found in most guitar history books. Where this book falls down in the fact that in frugality of printing. Because all the photos are in black and white and lacking detail, it is difficult to take full advantage of what is being presented. They speak of different color finishes in black and white images where little or no difference can be seen.

peavey guitars
libro che è una rarità, carino, poco spazio alle serie T quella più iconica ma direi un bella pubblicazione per appassionati. Nessuna scheda tecnica, divulgativo.
