Q: how many time periods I can schedule for a day? can I schedule each day of a week individually?

This is a 7 day programmable thermostat; you will have 4 periods per day, 7 individual days a week. No two days will be the same if you do not want them to be. LUX Technical Support

Q: Is it backlit? All the time, or when you touch a button?

It is backlit only when you push the Dial on the right side. The screen is still readable when not backlit when there is enough ambient light. The thermostat has three power sources. Batteries, the c wire in a five wire thermostat cable from the furnace or a USB cable connected to a computer. You only need one source and I choose the thermostat cable. There is a work around if you only have a four wire cable which you can find on the internet. I've used both and both thermostats work fine.

Q: Does it work with more than one phone? I.e. myself and my husband

Yes, it is possible. I have my app on my phone and iPad and on my wife's phone. Great system!Have five of them.Frank

Q: Can you use a 10k remote sensor?

The GEO does not have support for remote sensors
