Royal Oak Casualties
I would just like to correct the statement in the Synopsis above which implies that the sinking of the Royal Oak was the largest loss of life, (over 800)in a single incident during WW2; it was not. Not wishing to belittle this tragic loss, there were greater losses in HMS Glorious 1,203; HMS Hood 1,418; HMS Barham 862. Then there was the German ships Bismark over 1,000, and Scharnhorst 1,803; not to metion the Japanese battleship Yamato, with a loss of some 2,497!
