Wanna upgrade your cheap kids bike? Get this!
My 6 year old rides a Raleigh Rowdy 20" kids bike that had 6 speeds and a horrible twist shifter that he couldn't actually twist to shift. We live in the mountains, so he frequently has to walk his bike up hills. Anyway, I decided to upgrade his bike. This is the best option out there for a 7 speed freewheel (not regular cassette) for an adult or kids bike. This weighed only 20 grams more than his old 6 speed freewheel which is impressive since you get an entire extra sprocket that's huge! Anyway, I purchased the freewheel removal/installer tool, a new Shimano Acera derailleur that could handle the larger 34 tooth sprocket, and a new 7 speed regular style shifter with levers that you actuate with your thumb and index finger. Everything went on like a dream. I had no problems at all. I'm a fairly avid rider, so I'm familiar with all these parts, but I'm not a pro bike mechanic or anything like that. The derailleur bolted right on to the bike's derailleur hanger, and after some adjusts to the upper/lower limit screw and B screw, I had it shifting perfectly. The test came when he went to ride it. He could actually shift through all the gears now!!! He could climb our steeper hills too!!!. Anyway, this product and those listed below are epic wins, if you are looking to upgrade a similar 6-7 speed bike.Freewheel Removal tool: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FI8WWZY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Shimano Acera Derailleur: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WSQPRGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Shimano Acera 7 speed shifter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OZQNHJ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Made the beach cruiser easier to ride.
I bought a Catalina 7 beach cruiser. I am not sure who designed the final drive but the lowest gear is not a low gear. Climbing hills was a chore before I put this on. Much better now. I only wish they made a cassette that didn't jump so much between 1st and 2cnd. Oh and if coming from a 14-28 to the 14-34 you will probably need to add 6 chain links. It would work before but was on the edge. Now it shifts like butter.

A good value for replacement psrts, if you aren't upgrading.
I swapped this freewheel onto my fat bike, to improve the gear ratio for climbing. It's an exact replacement for the existing freewheel. My original freewheel has a 28t first gear. The replacement I purchased has a 34t first gear. A definite climbing improvement. I didn't rate any higher than a 4, because these aren't even in the same class as entry level "good stuff". It will suffice what this particular bicycle is going to do. Regardless of my personal opinion, this freewheel is taking the pounding I'm giving it, in the trails.

Should be standard for 3x7 bikes
This freewheel should be standard on the box store 3x7 drivetrain bikes. This brought my lower gear ratio closer to the ratios on alot of the 1x10-12 drivetrains we see on the higher end mountain bikes. I can now climb trails that I previously had to take the walk of shame on. I is also noticeably better built and sturdier than the one I removed from my cheap box store bike. I didn't have to add links to my chain or change out the rear mech either - just dropped in, adjusted my limit screws and cable tension and away I went. Very happy!

Good freewheel but not for upgrade from 5 to 7.
I purchased one expecting it would allow me to upgrade my 1980 Giant Cabrio road bike from 5 to 7 cogs at the rear wheel. My bike has 120 mm distance for rear wheel and as I supposed enough place for bigger freewheel. It was easy to install the freewheel, it is quiet enough though a bit more noisy than my old 5-cog SunRace freewheel. However, the new freewheel is exactly one cog higher so it was not possible to switch to the smallest cog that was closer to the frame than it should be normally.I tried to add washers between the frame and the derailleur, replace the derailleur to newer wide-range model, all that did not help. The smallest cog was not available. It seems to be necessary to have at least 126 mm between dropouts to use 7-speed freewheel.I have two 7-cog mountain bikes in my family so I decided to keep the freewheel for future replacements for these bikes. Anyway, the problem is not with the freewheel, it's with my frame and hub, so I give this product all fives basing on it's behavior when I tried to tune it.

Great product from Shimano
My, otherwise awesome, walmart bicycle came with a non-Shimano junk freewheel which used to give up at high load (usually going uphill or starting from rest unless you change to lower gears, with a KHAT! KHAT sound, felt like something will break)... good that it did. I was able to put this one on. Very good product. Very quiet. Great upgrade if you don't have Shimano. Easy to install, usually uninstallation needs a tool (FR 1.3 would fit here). I also changed to tourney 300 derailleur and shifting performance on this combination is great.

Seems to work
I was hoping I would be able to slap this on and be good to go but my old Shimano derailleur from a Trek I took off did not like this freewheel. I swapped a derailleur from another bike I had lying around and worked fine with that one. The little wheel on the derailleur seems to get awfully close to the large gear, but this must be normal looking at the pics on here. I'm getting a little more chain noise so I dont know if I need a new chain or whats going on. Not the fault of this freewheel though, just my low end Schwinn mountain bike.I'll update on any pros or cons. This came in a brown box, not a nice Shimano one.

Just Buy It!
This freewheel was just the ticket for me. I pulled the old freewheel and installed the new one. I did add a couple of links in the chain to make it the correct length. Put it all together and everything worked perfect. The index shifters needed no adjustment. If you live in hill country this is a great and easy modification.
