You Never Know Someone's Story
I would like to begin, as most people did, by saying how incredibly hard it was to read this book because of the subject matter. A friend of mine bought the movie, I had not seen it, so she gave it to me to watch it.I was shocked. She told me how much she wanted the book, so I got it for her birthday, she read it in one day and promptly handed it back to me to read. My heart was broken and then over joyed by this story. Yes it was incredibly hard to read at times (there is so much more in the book than the movie, as always, that is so much more brutal and saddening than you can imagine.) but I got through it with the reminder, you never know. Don't judge people by how they look, dress, think, etc., you have no idea what is going on in their lives. And Precious Jones has been to hell and back. A very telling story of how you can overcome just about anything. Read it and live the message.

Couldnt put it down!
I received my book last week and I started reading it within two days of getting it through the mail. I finished the book within maybe 4 to 5 hours- I literally could not put it down. I had seen the movie based on this book "Precious" and I love the book as much as the movie, there was so much more detail usually there is in the novel, but this book was so vivid and it was almost as if I saw more in the book than the movie. It is a book that will touch your heart and you will never forget her story. As far as the book since it was used it was in great condition and I loved every aspect of the book when it came in the mail. Amazon never fails I love it and proud to be a valued customer!

Sad, Powrerful, Moving
I read this book when it first came out and I decided to read it again. This poor young girl had to endure so many hardships. She encountered so much abuse, but she was determined to learn how to read and to make something of herself. She took baby steps as she continued on her journey. The author touched on issues that not too many people want to acknowledge, but abuse happens every day in our society. I enjoyed the movie, but the book was much better. I honestly felt like I was living this young girl's life as I read this book. It was both an emotional and painful book that took me on a roller coaster ride and I enjoyed every bit of it. Clearly, it's a five star read!!!

Stomach cringing
This book literally made my stomach cringe . It is a disgusting display of literacy , i am so suprised that oprah recommended and backed this book and I would never ever recommend this book to anyone especially a woman , especially a black woman at that. I could not even finish this book as I only got half way though the book before I literally could not make it through put it down and felt immensely ashamed at myself for even considering reading it .I am appalled that others find this a good read as the book literally feels like the author is rambling on and on . Perverse recollection of memories noted by first person narrative in a grotesque manner that is at the least portrayed in pure ignorance. When first ordering the book I expected a story of a young woman whom would overcome the misfortunes that befell her and instead I got a Soap Oprah of an imagination driven to the brink of complete irrational elements .
