The Ultimate Guide to Preserving Vegetables: Canning, Pickling, Fermenting, Dehydrating and Freezing Your Favorite Fresh Produce

From growing to preserving to recipes and serving ideas--Great Book!
I ramped up my vegetable gardening this year and knew I would need ways of preserving what I hoped would be bountiful results. I used Angi's sage and practical advice on planting, growing and harvesting; tips on dehydrator features before purchasing my own; instructions on fermenting (first time fermentor!), water bath canning (novice!), and dehydrating (first time dehydrator!); experienced advice on whether to blanch or not blanch prior to freezing; and tried my hand at a few recipes so far (the Fermented German Mustard Pickles are a winner--and I don't even really like pickled cucumbers!) and will be diving into more of the beautifully photographed, enticing recipe creations she offers over the next few months. Angi's description of her first pressure canner experience brought a smile to my face, as I recognized my own tendencies around things that could go boom (spoiler alert: no boom). This book is a treasure trove of information and I love the organization of it--she has separate chapters for each type of produce and different ways to preserve it, with all the info on how to grow it, too. She takes special note of safety guidelines published by the USDA and device/jar manufacturers. I am very glad I purchased this book--it is jampacked with content yet compact in size so not unwieldy to have on the counter, opened to the method or recipe I'm using at the time. I know I will rely on this book for years to come.

Great Resource
I bought this book after looking at a copy of it from a friend because it made it look doable. My husband really wants a garden but I have been afraid bacause what do I do with all those veggies. I have tried several recipes and they have been easy and delicious. We don't have a garden yet so I just buy the veggies at the grocery store. The book really helps explain what to look for in a vegetable to decide what to use it for. I love the interesting facts about the food as well. The pictures are amazing. I would highly recommend this book!

Easy to read, clear step by step instructions. Enjoy it.
It was easy to read recipes and follow the step by step instructions on prepping the ingredients and utensils that you need. My family and I canned 18 quarts of bread and butter pickles. The whole family of ten loves them.👍Next we will be canning tomatoes and green beans. Also we are planting a fall garden with greens, lettuce, carrots and etc.. So we will be learning how to can and freeze these vegetables properly. I hope you buy the ultimate guide to preserving. The whole family has really enjoyed it so far and I know yours will to. Good luck in your journey of preserving

Perfect for a newbie.
I'm new to gardening, and was looking for some guidance on how to preserve my humble, yet overabundant urban garden crop. This book has surpassed my expectations, with more information than I expected. The layout is so logical (arranged by vegetable, then process), and the recipes look very appetizing. The only thing I've made so far was the marinara sauce; I did have to google how high to boil the water bath, as that was unclear, but all in all, it was a success. I can tell this will be a book that I rely on for years to come, definitely recommend.

A New and Frequently Read Favorite!
I bought this book because I love jams and the carrot jalapeño jam is yummy delicious but a word of caution, hide it from your family or they will devour it!This book has a unique layout; it introduces each veggie with a thorough guide to growing it easily in the garden and then follows with a fermenting recipe, a dehydrating recipe and a canning recipe. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen this type of cookbook/gardening book and I like it! It’s definitely not just another canning cookbook with a repeat of recipes you’ve seen before.I purchased the Kindle version and it was a steal! Yay me!

Worth every penny
While I am in no way a beginner in the preserving the harvest, I can well over a thousand jars each year, I LOVE this book. There are some very creative recipes (beet and orange marmalade here's lookin at you!) that are very worth the make. I have been pleased with each one and am very happy to have purchased this book. Very worth every penny.
