Sturdy but Heavy
When this came in the mail our first reaction was, “this is too heavy and bulky to bring with us in the RV!” Our kids had given us a hammock thinking we could hang it up at RV parks as we travel. When they found out that most parks do not allow anything to be attached to trees, they got us this holder. The good news is that it fit right on top of the back bumper and travelled easily out to Colorado where it assembled quickly and easily. The travel bag will be much appreciated when we leave this spot.

Sturdy for larger adults
It is sturdy but heavier than I realized it would be. The thing that is great is it feels totally sturdy for larger people. It is great for camping or the back yard. Easy to assemble and to break down and put in its handy case.

Great ... But it Will Slowly Destroy Any Hammock You Hang in It
Overall this is a pretty decent hammock stand, for the price. It feels a bit flimsy, but it was easy enough to assemble, and once assembled it holds well ... as long as you tighten the screwed-in parts every few weeks.I'd give it a 4 (or like a 4.4), except for one fatal design flaw. At the end of each post you screw in a hook, to hold the hammock itself. That hook is on the far side, but the bit that it screws into sticks out onto the side with the hammock.Your hammock will rest against this metal bit just fine ... if you never ever move. But, if you actually sway at all in your hammock (and who doesn't want to wing a little in a hammock?) this metal bit will slowly saw away at the hammock itself, cutting the strings one at a time.I tried using an extra rubber bit that came with the stand to cover this metal part, and it *kind of* works (it looks a little funny, but it protects the hammock). However, if your hammock is outdoors, you can't leave the rubber bits on, because they'll get blown off. I tried rubber-banding them to stay on, but the rubber bands died in a few days (they're not designed for the outdoors). You could glue the rubber bits on, but then you wouldn't be able to tighten the hook, or loosen it if you want to take things apart. It's super frustrating, because if they had just designed things better, they easily could have made a slightly-tighter rubber bit that stays on, or included some way to fasten it to the stand. On the plus side, hammocks are cheap (you can buy them on the streets of Mexico for <$20!), and it takes awhile for the stand to saw the hammock strings (I used it all summer and it cut only three strands completely off, which still left a plenty usable hammock, as long as I tied the cut strings back together). So buy it if you want a decent/cheap stand ... but don't use any hammock you're attached to with it.
