Inexpensive, quiet, long life, also aerates
I bought (2) of these several years ago for a 65 gallon tank under-gravel filter. One finally died so I'm buying (2) more. I use a canister filter as my main unit but like the u-g filter as a supplement. These units include a short air tube that extends out to above the water surface to provide a LOT of aeration without needing a separate air pump. There is a simple screw-adjustment valve on the end of the air tube to set the aeration level. The air is drawn passively through the tube by the pump flow. The bubble size adjusts from smaller-to-larger as the valve is opened. The pumps are quiet and there can be more noise from the bubbles than from the pump. The heads have suction cup attachments and can swivel fully from left to right. I took off the deflectors as I wanted to stir up the currents at the depth of the pumps but I believe they can be installed to deflect in any direction 360 degrees. Amazon didn't like my video or my picture, but I tried.

Great little pump!
Lets admit it, most of the time, a pump is a pump. They all work about the same. I've had so many that it usually comes down to price. for me.This one impressed me. The flow is strong, and the included prefilters are substantial. I agree with others that the flow deflector is cheap and broke immediately. That is pretty common problem and easily fixed with super glue. (yes, super glue is aquarium safe) It is a great deal without the prefilters, with them it's fabulous darlings!

Amazing value
What do you expect? This is a pump, and it does a job - PUMP. For under $20 i think this is the best value, others cry as it arrive damage - well $h1t happen, some cry about noise level, i don’t even know if this pump running until my fish played against the flow. I used this on my 20 gallons long cichlids, and I recommend you to fill the filter with some carbon in the core and quilt batting around and it polish the water like magic. Don’t adjust the nozzle too hard as this is a cheaper item or the nipple that hold it will break, mine broke upon arrival but i got a replacement in 2 days

I liked the idea of the double filter cartridge to polish ...
I liked the idea of the double filter cartridge to polish water after I gravel vac. What I learned though is running a single chamber increases the water flow and works faster for my needs. The filter housing is kind of cheap and will crack on you if you arent careful. The output nozzle cracked as soon as I put it on. It still fits and holds in place though ... for the price, its worth it. The flow of water is strong - stronger if you use 1 or none of the filter attachments. Plastic bits are kinda cheap but the powerhead itself feels sturdy. The little air valve / tube thing causes micro bubbles in my tank so I dont use it.

Works as advertised. Great value.
Works as advertised. Great value. I have a well-established and naturally balanced planted tank. All I need is a mechanical filter and it works. I have a 16" high 20G long tank. I use only one of the filters at a time. They can be separated. On one canister, I left the black foam filter. On the other, I replace it with a disposable filter floss material which I use when I disturb the substrate to clear the water quickly. Otherwise, I use the one with the black foam. Water flow is more than adequate tor my tank size which is on the strong side. I think it would work even better for a 30-gallon tank. In my case, I direct the flow towards the top to agitate the surface which also reduces the turbulence below. Water flow rate seems unaffected whether I use the foam or floss filter.

Worth it
It's more quiet than air bubbles. Works great as a powerhead/filter. The plastic piece that attaches and directs flow is slightly too small. It's a Design flaw and it will crack no matter what you do. Still 5 stars and happy I went with this one.
