Notes on the Book of Proverbs (Ironside Commentary Series) Paperback – October 25, 2017

This is a very nice quality re publication by CrossReach. It appears to be a reprint of the 1908 Loiseaux Bros. original. Sometimes I am hesitant to purchase a re-printed book from the public domain and such, as the quality can be poor. This one is great. I was surprised by the size of the book, it is tall and wide but thin and light weight. The larger size makes it very readable. The quality of the paper and printing is excellent. Visually it is perfect. The cover is also attractive and of good quality, with cool old-timey artwork that suits the material.As for the content of the book, it is essentially a devotional commentary on Proverbs. It includes the entire text of the biblical book (in the King James version) as well as Dr. Ironside's comments. It is broken up into small chunks, usually one verse at a time but sometimes 2-5 verses together in a short passage. The biblical text is in a nice bold font with verse numbers for reference. Then Ironside's comments follow along. Often the comments are one short paragraph; sometimes they are longer.I look forward to using this book as a devotional reader. One could read a short passage of the Proberbs each day, followed by the enlightening comments, and then enjoy a period of meditation on the Scripture. Read daily, this would likely take a year or more.Overall, a great purchase. I'm considering looking at some other reproductions from CrossReach since this one was a nice surprise in terms of the quality. It's a good way to get your hands on older volumes which have gone out of print, without searching the used book sites.

I find Ironside's commentaries to be rich, informative and easy to read. A must for anyone who wishes to dig deeper into meaningful discussions of Biblical principles and application.

Best thing I've read on proverbs. Gives examples of individual verses and groups of verses from Scripture itself. Well worth the time to read.

I use this book as a daily bible study and devotional at various intervals. It is a personal favorite and reminder to be wise.

Ooh my gosh, grab your thesaurus and prepare to learn. Ironside is amazing!!!

Ironside never disappoints!

The commentary is good, but not great. I like that it is KJV.
