From the award-winning director of BONHOEFFER and The Power of Forgiveness comes The BLUEPRINT, a dramatic, multi-story documentary film for Public Television on Adventist education. Seventh-day Adventists, an American-born religion, are living 7-10 years longer than the average American. That story was told in the best-selling film, The ADVENTISTS. Then The ADVENTISTS 2 explored how Adventists are taking their health success to the far reaches of the globe through medical mission work. Now the Adventist school system - one of the largest private, faith-based systems in the world - is profiled in the 1-hour documentary film, The BLUEPRINT. At the heart of the Adventist approach to education is an emphasis on the "whole child" - body, mind and spirit. It is providing opportunities for growth and development not only academically and physically but spiritually that faith-based education can provide a unique platform for learning. "I think one of the advantages is we don't need to teach in a spiritual vacuum," explains one teacher. And throughout the film the children provide one surprise after the next, proving again they are the greatest treasure. The BLUEPRINT takes the viewer to eight Adventist schools across America including the Bronx, NY where the concern is the very safety of the children. At Arizona's Holbrook Indian School, Navajo students are discovering ways to combine their native culture with modern American life. In Colorado, a school is using the beauty of nature to reveal each child's role in creation. In Alabama, where over a century ago missionaries brought education by boat to the newly freed slaves - today a school is thriving. In North Carolina, a program mixes academics with hands-on trades in keeping with the vision of Adventist founder, Ellen White. In Maryland hands-on trade is keeping pace with trends in technology, and in California a school is finding the balance in teaching both evolution and creation.

Great documentary on Seventh-Day Adventist education
I was interested by the topic included in this video as a product of a parochial school system. But I did not expect to be moved by the content. It was fascinating and inspiring to see what a church has done with its philosophy of how to best pass on its values to its youngsters. The Adventists are to be commended for their adherence to this philosophy and for their overarching commitment to excellence as they do so. But beyond the honest and in depth handling of the topic, Doblmeier also showed amazing creativity with the craft of his medium. The videography was beautiful with creative and innovative shots and the camera work with the subjects added to the impact without distracting from the message. This was well worth the money. I will view it again and will share it with friends.

Excellent documentary
This documentary shows in detail where educational systems' priorities at large have failed and where the Adventist system got it right. Having been a pupil of both systems myself, I can clearly see how a whole-person approach makes indeed a great difference to each individual and, ultimately, to society. I would highly recommend this DVD to all teachers, parents and individuals who are interested in Education methodologies in general.

If one is an educator, this is a must see!
Martin Doblmeier has again produced an outstanding documentary. I have several of his films and as with the others, he had my interest all the way through. If one wants to see how to improve today's education, he has documented a method that works well.

Don't believe the hype
Adventist schools are not all they are cracked up to be. I went to their schools. The teachers were not even certified to teach. The education you get is less then stellar.
