On a recent week-long trek through the woods in Utah and Colorado, I used this Mosquito repellent as I went camping & hiking. Even in the path of a swarm of Mosquitos, they never made contact with me. This product is incredible powerful, and isn't irritating or fowl smelling. In fact, the scent of the spray also helped ward off the mice that were in one of the cabins I stayed at.

Bugs love me but this definitely keeps them at bay and it smells so good. I use it all the time on myself and my young child.

As far as chemical content, I'm very happy with this bug spray. I use it while gardening close to dawn and dusk during the summer. For the most part, it seems to keep me bite-free on a mildly buggy day. I feel good about using this product with my small kids. There is definitely a scent to it, but if you like essential oils and natural smells, it likely won't be too offensive. I'm pretty sensitive to strong scents, and this one doesn't bother me. I do tend to change out of my clothes when I go back inside and save the sprayed clothes for next time in the garden. Unfortunately, when I went hiking in deeper woods recently, this bug spray did not even come close to deet products. I was constantly pestered by mosquitoes with this stuff on and had to borrow the chemicals from a friend to keep from being miserable. On an extended trip in the deep woods, I will likely use something stronger than this. At my house and on my kids, I'm very happy with this product and with other Badger products in general.

My kid could be the ultimate tester for bug sprays. She could step in and out of the door and have gotten a mosquito bite that will swell to the circumference of a baseball. I've never even seen what oak mite bites look like before she got them. And as any parent concerned with the long term health of their children, I've tried a bunch of non DEET sprays. This one has worked amazingly.Recently, this spray was put to the ultimate test. My daughter started school this month and at her school they have 10 acres and a creek they visit frequently. Additionally, my daughter's class opens out to a lawn that is right next to a less full portion of the creek. I remember seeing it and thinking oh no, standing water. So I dropped the ball on the first day of school and did not explicitly tell the staff that she absolutely has to have bug spray on before going outside. The practice is to pass the class bug spray around to the kids and if they don't want to put it on, they don't have to. Well, I guess she didn't put any on or the class spray was not going to cut it because she came home and had no fewer than 30 bites along her stomach, groin area, legs, arm pits, head. Everywhere. I put the Badger after balm on. At 130am, she woke me up asking me to reapply the after balm. It wasn't cutting it. She couldn't get back to sleep and I didn't have any allergy meds in the house. So I gave her the option to try to get some sleep or go to the store for medicine. She chose medicine. So from 130am-430am, her and I were up trying to make her bug bites manageable enough for her to sleep. The next day, I explained to the school in detail that it's not optional for her to use bug spray (and I think she learned her lesson here too) and I showed them her Badger spray in her book bag so that they could make sure she used it. That was 4 days ago and she hasn't had a mosquito bite since.
