Definitely worth it!
This is an excellent book that delves into the emotional side of eating. It has been life changing for me.... Her use of the term "spider senses" instead of just saying "intuition" or "instinct" does get a bit redundant but it's worth ignoring for the benefits of this book. It's an amazing way to reshape your experiences and influences with eating. Thank you Dr Ramani!!!

Wonderful Book!!
All my overweight life I have not had the insight to understand exactly why I overate. Some painful childhood memories I thought might be the reason but I really didn't know the underlying cause.Dr. Durvasula's book is a revelation. She speaks of our childhood eating rules and how they impact our life. She speaks of Stake Holders, which are people who impact our life and eating habits in a negative way. Her insight into behaviors is just amazing. She writes so well, not dry clinical verbiage but written with humor on occasion and her writing just flowsYes, I did finally understand why I overeat. By the end of the book I learned I overeat because I need the comfort of food.

Good read on emotional eating
I read this book after reading the author’s relationship book, so found some of the themes the same. I think it would be particularly helpful to those who feel fad diets haven’t worked and are looking for lifelong solutions. I liked the work book style as it reinforces that there are no quick fixes

Excellent Insight
I really enjoyed reading this book and got a lot of good insight from the descriptions that the author used to give life to the information. The book was recommended to me by a person that had met Ramani in person and believed the message was something that most people would be able to process and utilize in their lives. I missed meeting the author on two recent occasions that I know of, but feel very fortunate that I was connected to her book which will help me going forward in my journey through life.I recommend the book for anyone that is looking to understand the Why in what they do on a daily basis.

The author's use of the phrase "spider senses" was redundant to the point of being distracting. It interfered with the good that the author was trying to accomplish.

Why do You eat?
I discovered Dr Ramani on YouTube. She is excellent, for a lifetime stress/comfort eater she is an amazing voice in a world of diet & lifestyle books and people who use “lack of self control “ as the reason for everything. There are no magic bullets in life but this is well worth the read.

At last - a self-help book written by an actual expert
As a psychology professor, I am often discouraged by the misinformation that is spread by self-help books, which are usually written based only on the personal experiences of the author. At last, here is a book written by a leading scientist and a license clinical psychologist. The book is engaging and her personal story truly inspiring, but what impressed me the most was the accurate, up-to-date research findings presented throughout (and in a very appealing way). I expect readers will enjoy the book tremendously and, at the same time, come away with tips and information that have been verified by an impressive body of scientific research, some of which was conducted by Dr. Ramani herself.

Dr Ramani is very good. The book is not only about eating, it's about changing how you treat yourself. Totally recommend.

Disappointing. After the first chapter the content starts to feel very repetitive.

If you want to understand your eating behaviours then this is the book for you.
A brilliant book. Very helpful educationally. Helps to understand how eating behaviours can be unlearned. Like with every habit it takes time but this book gives steps in ways to understand and change behaviours. Definitely one for the shelf for reference.
