LOVE It!!
I bought 2 of these…1 for the compost and another to hold washed egg shells until I grind them up for the compost. Great size! Holds a whole days compost or more. The stainless steel is real easy to clean and dry. I put a basket coffee filter in the bottom so damp compost does not stick. They are very attractive and go well with our cottage woodwork. They are well made. The wood is finished nicely. The stainless steel bin is plenty rugged. The lid fits well. There are no odors.I can recommend these without any reservations.

Just like the pictures
Wanted something to keep used coffee grounds in before heading to the compost pile. This works perfectly. Small footprint on my counter, looks just like the pictures, and quality stainless steel container and lid are easy to clean and look good.

So far so great!
Sits on the kitchen counter, goes unnoticed as a counter composter by everyone.I eat a lot of produce and have to empty to the outdoor spinner 1-2x per week, so it holds a few days worth of food scraps. There is absolutely no smell when the lid is on. I normally rinse with water after transferring contents to outside and that keeps it fresh and clean.I’m really happy with the size, style, and overall function of this little guy! The rubber feet on the bottom also keep it from moving anywhere or scratching the granite.

Great upgrade
This is an excellent upgrade from our old one that was about half the size and plastic. We cook a ton, so we empty our's about once a day if not twice. The stainless steel is great and easily lifted out of the wooden box. I was worried it may look out of place and appear too 'rustic,' but it fits well on the counter and also the grain is really lovely to give a warm modern touch to our aesthetic.

This is a good solution
We’ve been collecting and dropping off organics for a couple of years now. In our previous house the county provided 3 gallon compostable bags. I lined an inexpensive metal bucket with a bag and kept it in the fridge (because it didn’t have a cover), then when full I tied it up and put it in the freezer until there was enough to take to the drop off site.In our current home the county provides a year’s worth of 13 gallon bags. Therefore I wanted a different solution. I wanted to put the big compostable bag inside a large paper bag in the freezer and collect scraps in a container in the kitchen, emptying it into the bag in the freezer every day or two. I didn’t want to keep anything under the sink where I would have to take it out and put it back every time I had something to drop in. I wanted something that looked good and didn’t take up much room and was not made of plastic. This bin checks all the boxes! This wooden and stainless steel bin looks great on the counter. I’m happy not to have to keep an open container in the fridge anymore taking up valuable space. The small size bin minimizes the counter space used and ensures I empty it frequently. It looks small but it does hold more than you think. If I have a lot of scraps like melon rinds or something of course I have to put them in something else or bring the bag out of the freezer and put them in directly but that doesn’t happen often. In our household of two it is the perfect size most of the time.Thank you to the reviewers who pointed out that the stainless steel liner is a 1/6 size 6” deep steam pan and that you can buy an extra one. I just did that and now I can put one in the dishwasher and drop in the spare in the wood frame. NOTE - the steam pan we got is not exactly the same size as the one that came with our compost bin order. In fact the one I got is a slightly larger capacity. It is not as narrow at the base which is fantastic - it holds more! However it also is shaped different at the top. It has a “bump out” around the top just under the lip which made it fit slightly too tight and I couldn’t lift it out of the frame easily. Husband to the rescue - he sanded on the inside of the frame on the side where it was tight and BOOM it fits perfectly! For anyone who still puts organics in their garbage thinking that it’s too much work to collect and drop off - I cannot believe how much of a difference this change has made in our household. I’ve heard that 25% of household garbage is organics but my experience is that it’s much more than that. We have close to 0 garbage now between recycling and organics collection. No smell in the kitchen or garage. No plastic bags for the garbage bin. To me it is insanity to wrap up compostable material in plastic and put it in a landfill. I’m so happy not to have to do it anymore.

Great design
We had a plastic one for years. This is a great upgrade! Fruit flies are still getting in but at least its pleasing to look at.

Can't say enough about this
This is such an improvement over using the receptacle provided by our recycling company! It is so pleasing to look at, my guests have to raise the lid before realizing it is a compost bin.Pro tip: One thing I suggest is using a large elastic band to keep compost bags close to the side. That way, when the canister is inserted into the wood case bag it does not puff out the sides. This is not a complaint but rather something that worked for me.Maybe to improve the product they could add an elastic band. It would only cost a penny or so.

Doesn't work well
I deeply regret that I spent so much money on this composter. After it was 3/4 full, I opened the lid and all these fruit flies came rushing out. Now my apartment is infested. I put the thing in the freezer to kill everything in it. I still have fruit flies everywhere. I don't recommend this product at all.
