Leatherwork - good thread, VERY lightly waxed (if at all)
I purchased four different colors of this thread for use in leatherworking projects. So far, I've used thread from three of them. It's very lightly waxed, if at all. The thread doesn't stick to itself like waxed thread from Tandy or Tiger Thread but I haven't had any problems with it fraying or breaking. I've done a saddle stitch through two layers of 5-7 oz. veg tan or oil tan with no problems. The thread will slip off the needles but hasn't broken or frayed. I did a test swatch and was able to pull the stitch line tight enough that the leather puckered but it still held. I can't say yet how it will hold up with time and day to day wear but I would (will) order again at this price. The thread is some kind of synthetic (the ends melt) and it's braided, not twisted. It's also flat and lays nicely in a groove.

Excellent quality and value
I'm pleased with the quality of this binding thread. It is very strong: too strong to break with bare hands, because it feels like it will cut through your skin before it would break. (With leather gloves on I could break it, with effort.)It is lightly waxed. I wouldn't know by just looking at it that it's waxed. Some waxed thread has so much wax that it kind of clings to itself on the roll; this doesn't. If you pull it between squeezed fingers, it squeaks a little. Just the right amount of wax to tame it when tying knots, and to make it sticky enough for the first overhand knot to hold tight while you're making the second one.I don't know why the manufacturer chose the wording "exquisite material" instead of just telling what it is made of. In one of the answered questions, the manufacturer says it's cotton, and it does indeed look and feel like cotton to me...the way the fibers look when frayed, the way it bends, the sheen, all seem like cotton. The black color is very black.Thickness: a full 1mm measured the flat way, 0.4 to 0.5mm when viewed on edge.At about $1.00 per 100 feet it's a decent value, especially compared to craft stores. Fast delivery. If you're okay with a flat profile thread rather than round, I highly recommend this product.

Perfect for our project
This was perfect for the book-binding project done with my Girl Scouts. No fraying, easy to use, not tacky, no wax flakes left behind. Nice supply for our project.

Very good string!
This is my go to string. It took a while to find but I have the same string in a black spool too. Durable enough for my needs and the knots come out pretty good!

Excellent product
I purchased this thread as I was renovating some oars. I needed it to stitch the leather together. It performed well with sailmakers needles. Very strong so you can really tighten your knot. Waxed so it should hold up when wet.
