they work... but not perfect
Installed 2 of these this past May on a boat with twin engines. The boat stays in the water all summer and has been in since first week of June. Both senders seemed to be accurate at first, one just being slightly slower then the other to respond. Now, one much slower then the other to respond and appears out of sync. When motors are trimmed equally, one in far delayed in starting to move and then stops moving far short of the other so the gauges end up in different spots when they should be in the same. I did add extra RTV where the wires enter the switch housing as i read prior to purchasing that someone else did that. Not sure if there is a quality issue or maybe water intrusion slowly deteriorating one. Overall, they still work but one not accurate.... and a gauge is pretty much pointless if inaccurate.

Works perfect - just like OEM
I had previously ordered one of these from a different seller here on Amazon and the 1st one I ordered came way out of wack in resistance. I tested the 1st one with a ohm meter. If I would have put that thing on my boat, the trim gauge would have shown full up when the outdrive was barely up. I sent it back.I ordered this product that I'm reviewing and it was within the resistance range when checked with an Ohm meter. Now, I will say. I have a Four Winns Horizon 190 boat with a 5.0 Volvo Penta SX-M sterndrive. It was a little bit challenging to change out my factory one. I had to feel around with my hand (couldn't see) in the engine bay and find the factory trim sender wire coming through the transom. I then went to the back of the boat, wrapped and taped on a good quality string (i use a masonry string because it can be pulled so tightly). I then used a screw driver and pushed the old grommet through the transom from the outside. I then went back in the engine bay and pulled the old sending unit wire through along with the string. The, I used the string as a fish tape and pulled the new one in.I must say, I read a lot of reviews about this thing failing once it hits the water. obviously water intrusion. I coated this thing in liquid electrical tape prior to installation. Like all over the unit. The only place that I didn't coat was the shaft of the rheostat - obviously.A dry test of this thing installed worked as it should. No issues. I am expecting to get the boat in the water in a few days and if it fails, I will return here to adjust my review. If it continue to works, then you won't hear from me.

Cannot adjust to read full down on dash gauge.
while the unit looks the same and blots up and wires the same as the original one it will not adjust to read correctly on the trim gauge. The gauge stops going down before the drive is fully down. Even with unit off outdrive and turning the pot by hand the gauge will move up and down but not move to the full down position. Should have known better than to buy this China S###.

Very poor quality
Lasted less than a year. Used the boat 3-5 times and sensor was reading erratic. Sensor is not properly sealed. Sensor connector pins are to small. I had to cut the pins from the old sensor and solder them.to.thw new sensor to make it work.

Inexpensive alternative to OEM
This seems to work fine as a replacement for the factory OEM Volvo Penta sender. Because removing the original hull grommet is impossible without pulling the V8 engine, I simply cut and spliced the wires using low-temperature soldered connectors and heat-shrink, expecting that I'll have to revisit this again in a few years.

Matches volvo penta pary
The resistance range matched volvo part. I returned 2 from other vendors because range was twice sensitive and gage moved very fast. This one worked perfectly.

OK
Very difficult to adjust for proper gauge readings.

Doesn’t last
Broke within the first months use. Saw other people comment that so I guess it’s all of them.

Happy with this purchase.
This part arrived earlier than expected. Was perfect fit for my boat. Worked perfect after installation. Very pleased with this purchase.
