Shop-Vac 5987100 8 Gallon Wet/Dry Vac, 3.5 Peak HP, 2.5 Inch Diameter x 6 Ft Hose, Rear Blower Port for Versatile Cleanup

I bought this unit to replace a 6.5 hp 16 gallon Shop-Vac my dad gave me as a gift in the early 2000s model QPL625. That unit is a workhorse, I've used it hundreds of hours and the vacuum still runs, but the old vacuum is finally getting flat spots in the motor windings so I decided time to buy another Shop-Vac. I've only had this model for 2 weeks now so I can't yet vouch for longetivity of the SVX2 heavy duty motor. However, I can say this vacuum is just as powerful as the old vacuum ... sucks up rocks, sticks, leaves, loose paint off boards, water puddles, basically anything not physically attached to a heavy object. Loudness is probably in the 60-70 db range. Loud enough to stop a conversation but not hearing protection loud unless used continuously over 5 minutes. An earlier review mentioned one con of this unit is lack of onboard attachment storage, but you also need to consider the pain in the butt removing all the onboard attachment tools before you can turn the vacuum upside down to empty it. I like this model because it DOESN'T have all the rarely-used tools kept in onboard storage. The unused tools get stored elsewhere in a mesh bag. Fill this vacuum up, take the motor off the top, turn it over to empty out, put the motor back on and away you go. Fast and easy. The only con I have is no reusable dry filter discs 90107-19 come with this model. For dry pickup I prefer to use a dry filter disc in conjunction with the provided foam filter 90585. The provided pleated filter 90304 provided with the vacuum works for both dry pickup and wet pickup, but replacement cost of the pleated filter is much more expensive. The wet/dry multi use of the 90304 filter means extra replacement cost for wet pickup that I rarely use.

I needed something with enough power and capacity to clean out a holding tank for an outdoor water feature and this vacuum got the job done in no time and saved me money from not having to call a professional to do it. I’ve owned shop vac products for years and they never disappoint. You can abuse them all you want and they keep on going. The only thing I don’t like are the casters that have tendency to fall out of their spot in the base. They should snap in and don’t. A couple times I had this happen so some repair/adjustment will be necessary. Other than that it lives up to its name.

It sucks stuff off the floor, so I recommend it so far.

Bought this to replace a 20-year-old Shop Vac. This thing is super powerful and you should avoid small pets and children, as they might get sucked up into it (just kidding). This has the best power I have ever seen in a vacuum cleaner of any type and picks up everything including some pretty large bolts(1/2-13x1"), nuts, and nails. Came with almost everything it needs, and really like the 12-foot power cable.One negative is it has the onboard attachment holder as an accessory purchased separately. For the price, this should have been in the box.Overall this is the best shop/workspace vacuum cleaner, no contest.

Been using for almost a year. The suction is poor, it works but not well. It clogs easy and the hose on mine fell apart almost immediately. Shop vac brand used to be good I had some of the older ones but this is a cheap plastic toy compared to the old ones. I need to replace it already so I will be looking at other brands...

Got a great deal on this. The 2" hose along with the really strong motor makes this vac able to suck up just about anything on the floor of my shop, including pieces of welding wire, chunks of slag steel, piles of mill shavings - the hose rarely clogs and when it does a quick whack is all it takes to clear it. Great shop vac

The detail shop I work at uses two craftsman 16 gal 5.5 hp vacs and when one of them went down i brought this in to test it out and it did really well. honestly has more suction than the craftsman

For the $$, it is a really good buy. Sucks up everything... might even suck up my dog.My only complaint is the head attachment. It is ABSURDLY SMALL given the size and power of this vac.I have a much older and smaller shop vac and the head is at least twice as wide.And it is so important to the vac, that's why it drops to a 3*.Now I'll have to buy either a pack of attachments including a bunch I don't need or a head about 1/3 of the vac itself.
