Sturdy construction

I did a lot of research and chose this picker. Primarily I wanted a very sturdy basket, one that could hold up to pick oranges from my 5 fully mature citrus trees. It has been up to the task and I work it hard. I did put an extra clamp on the basket where it attaches to the pole because I knew how hard I was going to work the tool. I did have a problem with the locking clamp tabs (they broke) but the company made it right. Next time I will implement a maintenance routine of lubricating the tab mechanism to keep the tabs from breaking. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Ohuhu Fruit Picker Tool, 13-Foot Fruit Picker with Light-Weight Aluminum Telescoping Pole when you need a lightweight but sturdy picker for fruit like oranges that require a sturdy pull to release from the tree. I was going to give 4 stars for usability (minus 1 for the tab problem) and changed it to 5 for durability plus customer service.

Oh my gosh, I am so pleased with this product! We have several fruit trees in our yard, and the birds tend to get all the best fruit at the top. One tree is well over 20 feet high. With my fruit picker, I can get that fruit before the birds do! The guava tree does have some tangly branches that tend to block my efforts, but with a little practice I've been able to move the picker around and through those branches to get the shining fruit from the uppermost branches.I also love the length of the pole, the incredibly EASY way that the pole extends, and the overall lightness of this product! Plus there is cushioning on the pole handle, providing a comfortable grip.This product is very well engineered and manufactured. LOVE it!

Seems well build and it does the job. It is very light and easy to use. There were no instructions included, but it was not difficult to assemble. The basket is a good size and shape for apples. Might work for other fruits too. The coating on the basket is a little thin, but has help up so far. The pad is plenty thick to prevent the fruit from being damaged when it falls in the basket.

This amazingly simple low tech design that works! I picked 4 trees of tangerines in just a few hours. The basket has a hooked design where you simply slip the hooked prongs behind the branch and give a slight twist while pulling down and the fruit is in the basket. Citrus trees have a tight grip on the fruit and pulling hard can cause the stem to tear the skin of the fruit. This tool assists in keeping the fruit in good shape. The basket has a foam lining making for a soft landing for the fruit. I read reviews before buying and looked at the 1 stars and got concerned that maybe it was a piece of junk. When I took it out of the box, it was way too simple to assemble. I believe some folks make simple things difficult. The top simply slips over the end and you tighten the hose clamp around the base of the basket to make a snug fit over the end of the pole. True, there were no instructions and the pole has a threaded end which causes confusion. I believe the threaded end allows for a non slip end once the screw is tightened. I give it 5 stars because it is such a simple and effective tool. Love it - it now lives in my garage waiting for next years crop!

As something of a tool geek, I appreciated the quality fit and finish of the Ohuhu fruit picker. Its two, toggle-style clamps make it easy to set precisely the desired extension. And the 13-foot maximum reach lets me nab grapefruits and tangerines from branches so high, I wouldn't want to do it by hand from my ladder. The sturdy poles flex very little, even at maximum extension. Having never used a fruit picker, it took several minutes of experimentation to learn how to get a grip on the fruit, after which every one I picked was transported safely to earth in the wire basket. This tool seems to be built to last, and I consider it an excellent value.

We bought two of these pickers a couple years ago and have put them to light duty use (picking peaches, apples and apricots from the 5 trees in our yard) and keep them indoors when not in use. They work great. BUT the flip lock levers are thin plastic and eventually break (2 out of 4 of ours have). Since Ohuhu does not sell replacement flip lock levers, we are left with either having to replace the entire pole or rig up our own fix (currently we use a vise grip to grab what is left of the lever but that won't last one season probably). Would not buy again and do not recommend this product because of the poor durability and lack of replacement parts.

In my new home, I have an apple tree in my backyard, and my neighbor has a persimmon tree that reaches over my fence. After using a ladder propped on a picnic table to pick apples this summer someone told me that they make pickers with extendable poles. Aha! I found this product, ordered it and have already tried it out on the ripening persimmons. It's EXACTLY what I needed. Well-built, with a telescoping pole that reaches high up into the tree, and the perfect plucking/basket mechanism. Plus it's surprisingly reasonably priced. I've gone from treacherous to enjoyable fruit-picking in my backyard thanks to this tool!

This is a sturdy well designed picker that I highly recommend . Sometimes you get a better understanding of a company when things do not go as planned. This company missed a piece required in their initial shipment to me. They quickly sent me not just the piece required but a whole new product . They followed up to ensure I was satisfied. Great customer service!

Brought it to the grocery store and it did not help me select the fruits I should buy. As a tool for harvesting fruits in the trees in my back yard though, it's fantastic.

This tool is awesome, however the crab apples on my tree were smaller so it was hard to retrieve them as the rake component has a lot of space in between each hook. The tool extends so much! I didn’t need a ladder at all!

Works great!. Slow but still a lot faster than a ladder. Would buy again.
