A Woman's Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything is a Proper Teaching in Time
A Woman’s WisdomLydia BrownbackBook Summary: Advice books are no short-lived trend, even though much of the advice parading as “wisdom” proves shallow in the long run. What we need is biblical wisdom, and even more than that we need hearts set on the One who governs all our practicalities. The book of Proverbs unlocks the key to both, helping us to face very real challenges such as:• handling our freedom, independence, and material resources wisely• keeping ourselves sexually pure• practicing biblical femininity in a world that scorns us for it• sustaining God-glorifying marriages• elevating biblical priorities ahead of day-to-day pressuresExploring the timeless counsel in the book of Proverbs, A Woman’s Wisdom teaches us to know the very Author of wisdom and to apply his relevant, how-to riches.Review: I liked this book. Although it was not exhaustive it was Biblical. I liked that every time she sought to make a point she used scripture. Than would elaborate on it with examples, especially how she struggles. It was never preachy, yet she did make good use of her points and examples. She laid out some very thought provoking concepts about becoming desensitized to our sin. She also worked through the ideas of growing in discipleship. I liked how the overall book was set up and the use of Proverbs. It is a tough piece of scripture to elaborate on yet she does a wonderful job. One of my favorite points was about fear. I think her ideas were a representation of the Scripture. She does a great job of pulling from other scripture while using Proverbs.I would like to thank Net Galley and Crossway for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone. Actually an interesting study regardless of gender
“A Woman’s Wisdom”: how the book of Proverbs speaks to everything, by Lydia Brownback. “Proverbs” is my favorite book of the Bible and, being a man, the title of this volume piqued my curiosity. It is a well-presented text followed by a good “study” guide composed of four or five thoughtful questions for each chapter. (Hint: It might be a good idea to read the study guide section before you read the actual chapter.) Something very nice Brownback’s book does is break away the traditional “what-to” façade of “Proverbs” and explain the “why-to” and “how-to” of the Wisdom within Proverbs. Clearly it interprets “Proverbs” for women but there is also a lot of great stuff here for men to take note of.

This book gave a good explanation of many of the proverbs that we use and quote today. It was thorough yet not overly specific. I would recommend this for a small group to do rather than someone on their own. Many of the topics would be best discussed as a group that way a young woman (like myself) could get the most out of it. I wish the questions were right after the chapters, but that's okay, just a minor formatting critique. Still worth reading if you are doing a study on proverbs.

Needing Wisdom from Jesus
The book is powerful and so full of wisdom. I don't think anyone could not benefit from it because it's all about life issue and problemswe all can identify with. The workbook at the end is definitely an asset because it makes you really think from your heart and it givesan awesome chance to look up Scripture. We are not quite finished it with our bible study but it really grips you and makes you wantto back for more

Excellent Book!
This book was surprisingly easy to understand and extremely insightful. Sometimes Proverbs can be difficult to interpret or relate to modern-day living. The author does an excellent job of providing real world applications that are very thought provoking for any reader interested in growing in their faith and through examination and introspection striving to be the woman God wants you to be. Bring your highlighter girls, this is a book you will want to re-visit! There is also a great study guide in the back that can be done by yourself or with a small group. Definitely a Must-read!

Great read.
This book provided many great points, I love how the book always directed the role that we as women should play in society contrary to what the "world" defines as our role. A few shaky points brought up but over all this book is very biblical and provides a great break down of wisdom in women according to the Bible

Good advice, well written
Good advice, well written, really makes you evaluate yourself and how wise a woman you really are. I didn't give it 5 starts because some sections did get a little left field and off topic. The beginning was tough to get through but after that the content is great.
