Preliminary view: disappointed.
I had only one day to assess this camera before leaving for a holiday. It does not start immediately like my current Casio Exilim 750 nor will play back more than the last photo taken. I had to leave it at home and will have to do more work with it on my return home from holiday. So disappointed.

Great Camera, Especially for the Price! Lots of Features to Learn, Though
This camera is jam packed with features and well worth the time to learn most of them. Originally bought the camera for its high speed photography feature but have since explored most of the other features. Quality of still photos is amazingly good. Especially like the built-in HDR image processing. It does almost as well as can be done in post with Photoshop. Anti-shake is effective, especially on long telephoto still shots. Again, some fancy digital image processing produces almost tack sharp images at 18x full telephoto. The camera takes a series of rapid shots and combines them to clarify the image.Have not done much with the movie functions other than real-time (20-60fps) clips. Focus and exposure tracking are good. Not a lot of focus hunting during pans or zooms. The built-in intervalometer looks like it will do the job for basic time lapse movies up to one hour shoot time. Ironically, I have not yet tried the HS movie mode for which I purchased the camera. Others I've talked to say it is useful up to about 240fps above which point the resolution declines unacceptably and the amount of light needed becomes extreme. Again, this is hear say on my part but I trust the source. The controls depart in a major way from senior DSLR's. Operating the camera becomes an exercise in selecting from a mind numbing array of presets for every conceivable shooting situation - both still and motion photography. This can be good for non-photographers but no matter what, it forces the user to at least learn a large subset of the presets in order to get maximum good out of the camera. Oh sure, there are totally automatic modes but if that's all you plan on doing, ask yourself why you are buying the camera in the first place. Perhaps the phone camera does all you need.

Low price high speed camera
I bought this based on all the excellent reviews for the Casio EX-ZR700. This is a replacement with a couple extra features...time lapse and 5-axis stabilization. It arrived in excellent (new) condition a couple days after ordering. Surprising since Amazon put the item in a much larger box with minimal paper padding as usual. The description says Japan import but "Made in China" is printed on every part including the camera. My camera was apparently made in 2013. I emailed the seller with a few questions before buying but never received an answer. I called Amazon and got the answers I wanted such as...the manual is in Japanese but can be downloaded in English. The camera menu can be changed to English, and Amazon has a 30 day return policy. After that you have to contact the seller for warranty...good luck there. I hope nothing goes wrong with it. It comes without a memory card which you'll need...it only holds about 10 sec's of high speed movies (the main reason I bought it). The quality is poor at 1000 fps but still useful for scientific purposes. I did some research and found the Sandisk 32Gig SDHC Extreme Plus card to be a good choice. Apparently you need a good quality (although expensive) high speed memory card when recording high speed movies or it will slow the camera down...makes sense. I bought this solely for the high speed feature and plan on putting it to good use.
