Delicious recipes that work!
I had borrowed this book from my local library and loved it so much I bought a copy! The recipes are easy to make, clearly explained, work without need to alter or adjust (though you can adjust spice levels to your preference). Every recipe I have tried has worked great, and tastes delicious. I'm slowly working my way through the book one recipe at a time. Bonus that they're healthy and can be used as a side dish or a main course. Definitely a keeper!!!

Good recipes; not many pictures
The recipes sound awesome, but there arenot many pictures. Not a huge problem for someone familiar with Indian cooking, but it was difficult for me to picture the final dish.

Delicious and accessible Indian Food!
Includes descriptive, easy-to-follow recipes for classic Indian dishes, as well as a handful of fun and kid friendly American-style riffs like Chili Cheese Toast. An excellent collection to have, and a wonderful gift: especially for vegetarians! Highly recommend.

Great book
Great cookbook. Just wish there were more pictures - most recipes do not have one.

Lots of frying involved; not quite, "healthy"
Maybe the blame is on me for not realizing there seems to be so much frying in Indian cooking, but the whole reason I decided to eat primarily vegetarian foods was to be healthier, and eat less processed foods. The dishes sound good but many little fritters and the like that are fried. Maybe it will be good once in a while but not as frequent as I would have liked to use the recipes.

Great recipes & guidance to East Indian cuisine
My almost son-in-law is East Indian and has recently adopted vegetarianism so this was the perfect Christmas gift for him. Our daughter is a train conductor & she works odd hours so this will help him make great meals when he is responsible for making their meals! He said many recipes are just like his mom used to make!

Great Indian Vegetarian Cookbook With Unique And Interesting Recipes
"Essential Vegetarian Indian Cookbook" is just perfect for anyone looking to try out the diverse flavours of the Indian cuisine. It includes recipes for a casual everyday meal along with recipes for special occasions. The author has taken care to ensure that the dishes are not only delicious and tasty but also nutritious and healthy. The step by step instructions are spot on and would help even a novice cook. Another thing I really like about this book is that none of the 125 recipes need any fancy ingredients. All of them require regular pantry ingredients that we usually have at home. Including recipes for chutneys and spice powders which we don't usually find in other cookbooks makes this one standout from the rest.We made Green Beans Saute and Masala Chai from the cookbook and both of them turned out great.Only missing thing in this book from what I see is that it has pictures for some recipes but not for all the 125 recipes that have been included. Although that doesn't bother me much, I feel having pictures would help people who are new to Indian cuisine.Amazon delivery was exceptionaly fast. Thank you Amazon!!!
