Great Desktop Router
I’ve had this router for about a week now, and I’m pretty pleased with it so far.The assembly was easy enough, but I did have to make a few adjustments afterwards. It seemed to go together as it should, but after I’d started using it and began really checking things out, I discovered the errors. My y-axis range was less than the claimed 180mm, which made me realize that I’d installed the plastic bearings on the bottom plate incorrectly. When assembling this, make sure that you install these so that they allow the greatest range of motion. If you install one or more of them backwards, it will reduce your range about 15mm in that direction. Luckily, I only had to remove one linear rail to fix this, so didn’t need to disassemble the whole thing. Also, the instructions say to install the side braces at 44.5mm or something like that, which I did, but that turned out to be a bit too far forward. At the instructed distance, the spindle bit overshoots the forward edge of the bottom plate and stops before reaching the rear edge. It should be installed a bit closer to the rear than the instructed distance, but I still haven’t made this adjustment since I haven’t needed the full range yet. This is the first laser engraver that I’ve used, so I found out that it needs a bit of practice to use. You really need to find the right balance of laser power and movement speed for each material. The laser is a lot more powerful than I’d expected, so my first results were pretty awful scorched messes. Using much lower power and slower movement finally let me engrave a challenging picture of a black pug’s face on a square of wood that came out very well, but I wasted four pieces of wood before I finally got it dialed in. This laser is a beast.I’ve tried some simple wood carving and it came out ok. I’m sure I’ll learn how to do a better job.The main reason that I got this was to make my own circuit boards instead of having to order them and wait. I finally was able to get a successful board milled last night, after lots of trial and error getting the hang of it. You’re not going to be able to just slap a piece of copper clad board on and start milling; you’ll need to do some research and find out how to be successful with this router. Also, the v bits that come with this are too fragile for copper clad board, so you’ll need to get the proper bits or you’re just going to break the ones that it comes with. I don’t see this as an issue, as even a professional PCB milling machine goes through bits until you get everything dialed in.I’ve gotten a few hours on the laser now because it’s fun to play with, and I’ve noticed that it quits working after the printer is idle for some time. If the printer is on but not used for some period, the laser won’t turn in unless you turn the machine off and on. I’ve had it running constantly for hours during a job, but for some reason, it doesn’t like to sit for hours in an idle state. Maybe it’s some protection features, but a power cycle is needed if it’s been sitting idle for hours. All of the linear rails and lead screws must be lubricated. If you run it after assembly without this, you may hear some grinding sounds as it moves about. A good rail grease will take care of this and make it run smoothly. So far, I’m very pleased with this machine, especially given its price. There is a learning curve to using it and getting good results, but there is a ton of information on these machines on the internet.

Don’t get this
I couldn’t even assemble it since it wouldn’t move all the way across the rod. Then when I got it to start. The laser went out. Waste of money. Can’t even return

Laser went out
Have had the machine for over a month now. The router is working great. The laser not so much. I finally decided to start using the laser after getting comfortable with the router. ONE hour into it and the laser quit working. Have not been able to get it going again. E-mailed the seller and no reply yet.
