Perfect
The person that says this muffled the sound is wrong. It’s a passive pre amp and a source switch in a little box and has as close to zero impact on the sound as you could imagine.I am very very pleased with this as it does what I want with zero problems. Great quality.

A good pre amp
I bought this as o have a power amplifier and i mean a old school power amp i needed a pre amp indo have one sony es but i wanted something smaller this fits the job perfectly very simple no power needed as it is passive it does not seem to affect the quality of sound at all this is not a phono pre amp its jus for power amplifiers it does a great job and was a good price if you still hve your old school kit and still value full detailed powerful sound i would recommend this highly

Clean and clear; better than some pro audio passive volume controls
Volume from min to max very consistent. With volume set to Min, you can turn up and hear both channels come in at the same volume, (other volume controls I have used have a tendency for the left channel to initially be louder than the right when turning up from minimum).Switches are clean, no popping.Volume knob is knurled and has a nice sturdy weight to it.Connections are good. I currently have it set up with unbalanced RCA to balanced XLR, as I was foolhardy with my connections and forgot to realise I have TRS jacks coming from my DAC (oops!).Box is translucent black plastic, which enables to see the simple PCB inside.Overall, very clean.Subjectively I would say it is clearer than my previous volume control, but that is unmeasured and I'm just using confirmation bias as the product is doing exactly what I expect from it.

I use this to match gains with my source / valve pre and it works perfectly. No quality degradation from what I can tell. Best budget buy I have made.

Very well made but degrades the sound
Very well made for the money but it degrades the sound so it should only be used when absolutely necessary.
