Super sticky but works like a charm!
Make sure to wear gloves when using this because it will stick everywhere! But, it does the job and catches bugs and especially ants. I put it at the base of my hummingbird feeder so stop ants from climbing it and also at the base of my lemon tree which had multiple trails of ants on it. It lasts through waterings too.

Very sticky
It is most definitely sticky! The applicator is mildly useful only to keep you from using your fingers, though. It is also a pain to remove from said fingers if you accidently touch it. I do recommend disposable gloves when using. It suggests using oil to remove, but even that and commercial grade dawn back and forth about 5 times still didn't get it all off. It is very water durable. It does not come off with water. At all. I have been using it for bug balls on dollar tree beach balls, and this stuff is amazingly sticky through rain storms, too. I haven't had a chance to use the spray on kind to compare rain durability, but this stuff doesn't move in the rain. Now the hot sun, there are some dribble like looking formations on the ball from the heat, but it hasn't dripped off the ball to make a mess underneath. So, still a plus!

As advertised
I am trying this product for the first time against Gypsy Moth caterpillars. So far, it's working well. I may need to buy some more to keep the pests under control. If the product continues to save my trees I would be inclined to offer a total 5 Star rating across the board. The only negative I have: my "kit" did not come with a spreader. I used a putty knife. Clean up is a little difficult. This stuff is really sticky - which is what you want, but cleaning up is tough. I used gasoline on a paper towel.

Easy way to put on
The media could not be loaded. I had ants crawling up my new trees and chewing on the leaves. I bought this and a roll of 6" shrink wrap to put it on the tree. After reading some of the reviews of people having trouble putting it on I thought I would make a video of the easy way. No ants have made it past to get to the top on any of my trees. I think it works amazing. The 6" roll of shrinkwrap in the picture is definitely the way to go as well.

Bugs and ants seem to avoid and not try to walk through
Although this material has been around for a long time, it is very difficult to apply. We wrapped a tree with tape and spread this over to try and prevent a We wrapped a tree with tape and spread this over to try and prevent ants walking up and down the tree. When I observe the ants, they just walk around it and try and avoid it So perhaps this is exactly what it’s supposed to do but I’m sure if you had some specialized uses or applicators. It may be easy, but this was not the correct purchase for us.

Not effective for adult spotted lantern flies--They laugh at it
I first tried the Catchmaster Tree Shield Insect Barrier glue TAPE. Over a few weeks, with about 30 traps, I caught thousands of of small, immature spotted lantern flies. But the adult lantern flies walk up to the tape, feel it a bit with the long feet, and then walk away without getting stuck. So I figured the gloppy tree banding glue, also made by Catchmaster, would do the trick. I was wrong. This very messy glue caught very few adult lantern flies. (Just a few of the dumber ones.) As with the tape, the spotted guys would touch the glue a bit and then go down the tree away from the glue. A few even walked all the way onto the glue and still managed to walk away. This messy stuff that will stick to anything else, including your fingers, does not stick to lantern fly feet all that well. Also, in the 90° heat we’ve been having, large globs of the glue dripped off the plastic wrap and onto the tree. I suspect the glue may not be good for the tree.I'm not impressed with these Catchmaster products. Effective for small lantern flies only.
