... gouache before and I can't believe how efficient and brilliant this medium is
Haven't used gouache before and I can't believe how efficient and brilliant this medium is. If this is the economical brand, I can't imagine how much better it could be. I feel that it has all the pros and none of the cons of both watercolor and acrylic paint. It's creamy, goes on thick and thin however your prefer, extremely pigmented, can be rewetted so you're not wasting unused paint, blends relatively well, dries quick enough where you're not smearing paint everywhere, beautiful colors, and overall gets the job done. I've been converted!

You get what you pay for
I was expecting much much better quality from this one, having the Amazon's Choice title and all the great reviews, but it's really not a very good set in my opinion. There are a lot of inconsistencies in opacity/saturation/pigmentation of colors, they vary a lot in how thick or thin they come out of the tube - some are thick as glue that you can't even use without thinning them down with water, and some are simply broken to being part slightly colored water and part thick gluey color (see some of the puddles in the pictures - the orange and greens mainly). The burnt sienna even has some little chalky grainy particles in it. I mean, some of the colors ARE good, especially the black and reds, but all in all I would not buy this. People say the cheaper stuff are good for beginners but I think this much defects may just bum a beginner out completely from using this medium.

Don’t waste your money
Very poor quality. Don’t bother, even if you’re a beginner... I should say especially if you’re a beginner. This product will not give you a good idea of how gouache is supposed to work at all. Gouache is meant to be opaque and smooth. This stuff is streaky and watered down, not like gouache at all, not even as opaque as watercolors! You might as well be using crappy children’s tempura. Hard pass for me. I recommend Marie’s gouache. Much better quality at a similar price.

Love it
These work great and are similar to opaque watercolor than gouache. I use cotman watercolor but wanted more opacity. I also have 8 tubes/colors from winsor newton gouache but those are much more opaque and bit chalky. I wanted more variety and didn't want to pay 15 dollars a tube for winsor newton so I bought a set of reeves gouache, and royal and Langnickel gouache. They are a tiny bit less opaque than winsor newton, but I like these more because they are creamy and easy to use. I honestly think the colors and opacity are the same as Reeves. Reeves are also creamy but dry matte just like the Royal gouache. I would get both sets again when I start running out. I will put a picture with comparisons of Royal and Reeves .

nice introductory set
I don't have much experience with Gouache paints to compare this product to but I am happy with these; the pigmenting is rich and even, and the medium smooth. And for the price it's a nice introductory set.The variety of colors (24) is nice as an introduction. I will eventually almost certainly pare the pallet down to half a dozen pigments which I prefer, and mix those to get all of the hues that I need, but having a wide variety to start with seems like a good idea. Not being familiar with gouache I was unsure how long these little tubes were going to last but I have found that a little bit certainly goes a long way.

Well worth the super economical price
I've only used Windsor and Newton gouache paints before and these aren't as opaque as those. I was a little nervous because I really wanted to get some paints that would still be opaque enough to give the vibrant color I wanted. For the price of two colors of the Windsor and Newton paints, this set has all the colors you could want. Well worth the super economical price!

Unbelievable but true! This superior paint is selling at a fantastic price of $14. Grab it.
I feel that it is an above quality gouache set for my grade schooler and certainly better than standard quality for paints for kids. However, it is not meant for professional artists who would want more pigment and more flow with the paints. The paints I used as a 12 year when I first took lessons for drawing and painting were pan crayons watercolors and this is a unbelievable paint set for kids and beginner adults.I enjoyed dabbling with it very much. I used it myself so my boy would see me using it and then like most children want to use the exact paints I use. This way I am able to keep my artist quality paint (all of it) from him getting into it curiously. Wow! The painting that my boy has been producing was outstanding and certainly better than your standard crayola watercolor pans. He has won 1st and 2nd place at the state fair for his porcelain paintings, and he is eager to enter this dinosaur painting in a different category in August. Now he is into dragons, dinosaurs, spiders and at years old even his handmade Christmas card with a snowman painted on it that wowed his Aunt Bruni that he produced such a magnificent piece of art at 8 years old. I think the quality of the pigment in the paint made his snowman pop.

Great value and has a lot of potential if you can deal with the inconsistencies
It's very good for going for either a thick acrylic look (top picture) or a watercolor look (bottom picture) depending on how much water you add. This is a good set for beginners since there's so many colors since mixing colors can be hard at first. That being said, some of the tubes feel really watery (kind of like when you squirt out the bit of red water in an old ketchup bottle) and some of them are so thick you need to add water. But I don't mind this too much and it's easy to deal with

Ottime tinte professionali!

Royal & Langnickel 21ml Gouache Painting Colour (Pack of 24).
I am very pleased with this set; I've used gouache periodically ever since my student days and I've always enjoyed it as a painting medium.I was a bit sceptical given the price range as there's a lot of rather indifferent, low quality paint being sold as gouache by some manufacturers, but from the outset I could tell these paints were of fairly good quality. They are thick and of creamy consistency out of the tube; they mix well and are very compliant to work with. There are no ratings for lightfastness marked on the tubes, but they seem well-pigmented and have very good coverage. There's a good range of colours in the pack with two different tubes of white – one marked as Titanium, the other just “White” - it is clearly intended as a mixing white. Very useful indeed, as white is the most used pigment of all.The 21ml tubes offer good value for money and although these are described as student quality, they feel and behave like the professional brands. Its just a shame they aren't available to buy as single tube colours.I am most impressed by these; I'll give them a very thorough road-test in the coming weeks, but I have already recommended them to my painting students as a great introductory set to try out the medium.

Not bad for someone starting out
I purchased this set for my daughter who is just getting into gouache. The photo shows single layer swatches of all the colours included on grey paper. Swatches show that some of the colours are of decent quality, and that the only truly opaque paints were the Cerulean, crimson, and Red Lake. Ochre, Scarlett, Mid-Green and Viridian are alright, but very streaky and patchy in larger pieces. Getting good coverage with the Mauve and Sap Green was a real struggle, those are definitely not favourites. The Pale Green was split but after reintegrating it was alright.Overall, this is not a bad set for someone starting out. Just be aware that the true gouache coverage won’t be achieved with most of these. Having said that, the colours mix beautifully and are good for learning how to mix.

Really nice set of paints if you want to learn gouache!
I'm new to painting with gouache so I wanted to buy an affordable set with good quality and a wide range of colours. This set did not disappoint. The range of colours is very pleasing and I did some mixing and found that the results weren't "muddy" (i.e. the result of the mixing was still a vibrant colour). Overall I'm very pleased, and I'll enjoy learning various gouache techniques with these paints.I've attached the first painting that I did with these paints (it's not the best because I'm still learning but I hope it shows how nice the colours look!)
